Re: Rob Newman
Why would you jump to that conclusion?
He wasn't employed by us at the time - legally still a Man City employee.
His role was reportedly with their analytics team, and was assigned to scout young talent in Spain and France.
Vlasic was a Croatian playing in Russia, having previously played in the Premier League.
Do you know something otherwise?
Are you suggesting wrong-doing; that he breached his gardening leave?

Re: Rob Newman
I do think Vlasic is 100% a Moyes signing. But if Newman wanted to recommend a new player to us I am sure that still wouldn’t of stopped both he and Moyes having the conversation on the phone. That’s why sticking people on gardening leave is nonsense really. As you can’t officially work for your next company. But what is stopping you from working for your new company behind closed doors? It happens almost everywhere. Any football club that thinks employees don’t do that I’m afraid is deluded.

Re: Rob Newman
I hope Newman can help Moyes with U23 players. I read an article today where Moyes said "I want young players to come here and think there is an opportunity for them and a good environment" which is not true really as he has hardly given any a chance. The only one that got some decent time in a couple of pre-season matches was Coventry who played well and was rewarded with a loan to awful Peterborough to get slaughtered every other week at the bottom of the Championship. In fact Moyes has not brought any young players on into the team in the 3+ years he's been in charge. Are they all crap or is Moyes against it? Who knows but it isn't happening and hopefully Newman can help.

Re: Rob Newman
I see on various sites we are being linked with various players as usual.
It wouldn't suprise me if we didn't get a first team player in in January but then surely Mr Newman isn't there as a cheerleader.
I'm expecting one or two prospects for under 23s. But if we got 2 quality first team players as well as keeping what we had I would be delighted.

Re: Rob Newman
Can anybody tell me what the point of this bloke is?
What's his actual experience, what players he's scouted world-wide, what gems he's discovered for the world's richest football club that can buy any established player they want, and pay what wages they want?
Something tells me this is a box ticking exercise to say we have a head of recruitment and scouting or whatever contrived title he has.
Just over a week to go, and we're still short up front, a bit iffy at the back, so what is he doing?
Inevitably, we'll sign someone on loan from The PL or other well know league, someone we've all heard of that we could have scouted on MOTD for all we know.
Something a bit smelly about this imo.
