Not a drop since the 2nd and going strong. But I do 'Dry January' every year and have done since way before it was 'a thing', just my little way of convincing myself I'm still in control. To be honest it gets easier every year and I can comfortably roll on well into February before I crack, its the need for a nice bottle of wine that gets me in the end.

I'm off the cheese since the last nibble of the Christmas stilton went about 10 days ago, and I'm finding that much harder :arry:

Great to hear everyone is doing well!

Same really - not had a single moment of wanting to drink, which is weird for me to be honest. I went to a funeral/wake last week and was surprised that I didn’t cave, instead opting for way too much black coffee. That my family were all a bit perplexed that I wasn’t drinking probably explains me and them to some extent…

:o Three weeks today. One more week till my holiday.

Still scoffing loads of chocolate. Was reading about something called dopamine which alcohol affects and maybe now needs chocolate. All a bit too technical for me.

Yesterday I really wanted to taste beer but held on.

My energy levels have been weird. Been exhausted last few days but think that might be after effects of omicron from just after Christmas. No chance of getting to see doctors so just riding it out.

My face looks different. 'More human' my Missus said as she chugged down a bottle of Pinot Noir. And I feel like my gut is smaller.

After my ten days in Zihuatanejo i have 34 days till another 5 day trip to Cabo so hoping to not drink between those two trips.

Oh and I've been having mental dreams too. Many of them involving cruise ships in which I didn't manage 2 days sober in a row for a decade

Cheers for the recommendation. Just looked it up. Right in the middle of town near a bar with live Cuban music so I'll definitely check it out. A few minutes walk from our first hotel.

About to head to the airport. Just had my first beer in 28 days.

Will be drinking now until February 5th then back on wagon until March 11th with the possible exception on March 1st.

I'll be honest it felt great not drinking after work each night although I feel like I'm constantly battling covid  I've been exhausted the last few days & am really looking forward to just sitting in the pool or ocean. I've walked or run over 100km in the last 7 days.

I've been dry for a fortnight now and I've never felt this knackered in my life!

Until my mid-forties, a decade or so ago, I'd get a solid eight hours kip every night. This then changed: I'd go to bed at 11-ish, sleep like a log for four hours and then kip in one hour doses until 6:30 or 7:00. A couple of years ago, it got worse so I started drinking a bit more and started on the edibles.

I decided at Christmas to knock the lot on the head although it took me until my birthday on the 14th to drink all the leftovers.

It's now ****ing awful: I'm going to bed at 10, I'm awake again by 1 and then I'm awake for twenty minutes every hour until 6:30 when I give up and go to work. By ten in the morning I feel ****ed again.

I'm hoping this is just a temporary thing and in a couple of months I'll feel better 'cos at this rate I'll be back on the sauce by March. To add insult to injury, I've put on four pounds too.

Went to the pub Saturday, with a few of the guys, and stuck to lemonade all night.

Felt like a big step.

The temptation was real though!!
