Vlasic has started a lot slower than I thought but I'm still pretty sure there's a very good player in there somewhere.

Hopefully he'll kick on soon to show his value.
Did he struggle? He was 19, only started a handful of games, then wasn't fancied by a new manager coming in. Wouldn't read too much into that.

Chris Sutton very, very positive about us on the BT goals show that followed our game. It is unusual to hear him talk like this. We 'fear no one' (he was talking about our up coming Premier League games. Strange times

I seen this. Isn't he normally a big critic? Also every where I go friends etc keep on about what a good side we are. I must have gone to an alternative universe.

This did not age well, with the 50% that currently isn't both scoring and defending well.

Vlasic worries me a bit. At his age and the fee we paid he should be an automatic choice imo.

I feel he's just trying too hard. He's obviously got quality but just needs time to settle.

Would be more worried with Areola than Vlassic. If that had been Randolph or Fab slow off his line, flapping at crosses and abysmal distribution they would be getting pelters.

Generally a solid professional performance. What was required.

Very good professional performance. They pressed and defended well as a team but I always felt a set play would undo them. Our final ball was (again) often lacking after excellent build up play. Yarmo and Dawson were very good tonight and I thought Vlasic played very well. Linked up nicely with Creswell.

Keenly fought first half, where I felt we struggled in both full back positions, their CF was a handful and we rarely played any decent football. Les' goal looked soft.

Upped the tempo for a while in the second, and eventually ran out comfortable winners.

Best players probably Dawson, Diop and Soucek.

Job done and a special mention for Cresswell.
In top shape, wand of a left foot and gives his all every game, it would be nice for some our attacking players to take some of the burden off him down that left side.

Most likely because the club are very conscious that his fitness needs to be carefully managed, which is probably why he withdrew from the last Jamaica squad.

No disrespect to teams like Genk and Rapid Vienna, but frustrating to think these clubs get to play in Europe almost every year. Whereas we have to battle through a ridiculously tough and near non-competitive PL to qualify for Europe once every blue moon. It's mad to see some of the clubs that have played in the CL group stages (such as Celtic) whereas we've only come very slightly close to qualifying twice!

And then it's very ironic that when we have qualified for Europe, we got knocked out in the qualifiers by some random minnows - prior to this season of course! (And 1999 excepted).

I agree. Cress has really played well under Moyes, in both his tenures with us. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves for someone who’s given his all for us for so much of his career.

Also, another unfashionable person to praise, I thought that was one of Diop’s best games for us. Their striker was a real handful but he and Dawson tag teamed him brilliantly tonight. And both chipped in with goals. It can’t be easy being seen as second string players but absolute credit to both of them for stepping up.

Imo thats nonsense.
What if our other 3 players of similar age and value are keeping him out of the team?

Can a team not have more than 11 high value players?
