Meanwhile in Belgium their police went into the fans all guns blazing and acted as aggressor and it constantly kicked off as a result. Sounds like the Belgians haven't learned.

For all the talk of hundreds of millions in takeovers, selling our ground and artefacts, articles in the Sun etc etc, the lack of giving a flying **** for our travelling support was the GSB canary in the cage.

All I’m reading about is a few twerps on a plane singing a purile song. Hundreds crammed into inadequate buses like cattle and leaving loads in an industrial park in the cold doesn’t seem to have merited a club statement or any column inches.

TBF you get sort of used to it.
This this this. The whole disorganisation and lack of helpful messages was a joke from the outset. They also could've worked a lot harder to secure a larger allocation. They really don't care. The good thing about yesterday was that despite all this, hundreds of die hard West Ham travelled and supported the team. Yet a couple of idiots on a plane is all people talk about.

He was there 3 years ago. Last night was a throwback to what it was like when Noble was in our midfield. Far too easy to play against.

I must of got lucky because I jumped on the shuttle bus and it was away as soon as it got filled up but I went to the ground with the knowledge that I may of had to walk it back and I didn’t have a clue how it was going to pan out. If the club would of shared some info pre-match about the shuttle busses back to Genk town centre it would of saved me a lot of headache.

The ‘supporters service’ Twitter account claimed you could get trains to the ground which was in fact false as they were busses but what they didn’t tell you was there were no busses back.

Anyway, good trip. Genk played well and gave us a decent game. I was right next to that cage and couldn’t see a lot when the ball went down the left side of the pitch. Hope the chap with the finger injury recovers.

Into the hat we go for the next round. Can’t wait!

Decent game, great atmosphere albeit one with a few people who had enjoyed a beverage or two too many, i was concerned one or two may cause themselves harm falling over the seats. Still, we are all big boys etc so no harm done.

Their ground isnt that accessible by foot, a real trek from the trainstation, and our club really should have insisted upon and offered to pay for a greater number of buses to clear the area safely post match. Leaving supporters hanging around for over an hour waiting for the buses to return wasnt good.

A draw was a fair result bearing in mind we were utter dross for the opening 30 minutes, they came at us and we were lucky not to be 3 down before we pulled it back to all square.

Benny took his chances well but the goal of the night was from Tomas Soucek. A great finish is a great finish. To be honest it deserved more applause from our lot than it got.

Thats me done with Belgkum though, the food was djabolical and drknking beer stronger than wine aint fun.

A word on Vienna, covid cases surging, no double vax no entry. Its a proper ckth though which at least means you wont be dumped in the middle of no3late at night as if you are in some kind of SAS survival test.

A bit off topic but would highly recommend a trip to Bruges with a partner.

Lovely town, easy to get around and simple trip via Eurostar to Brussels then hour or so train to Bruges.

They do lovely steak and chips.
Top beer
My wife loved the waffles and their chocolate.
Best chips in any country!

The town centre is surrounded by a canal and is beautiful. Some good brewery tours too. Been to Brussels too (I proposed to my wife there) but loved the small town feel of Bruges.

The bus situation post match was diabolical, but they were warned, both through this forum, supporter services and the MPS.
Only have 2 buses back to Hasselt post match was a farce for one of the most inaccessible stadiums I have ever been to.
Not only that they only turned one of the coaches back again to the stadium which took a good 50 minutes and still wasn't enough to fit everyone in. Cue an every man for himself attitude, no room for 'women and children first' in this situation.
Not sure what happened next, quite a few still couldn't fit in, no idea how these poor sods got.back.

Agree post match organisation was poor. Supporter Services told us that the buses back to Hasselt would go from where we were dropped off, quite a walk away from the ground. It was only after the game walking through the car park that we saw buses with Hasselt paper signs on. By the time we left they were rammed so much that the doors wouldn't close and some of the guys were getting verbal with each other. It was so tight in there once we got going that one lad passed out and somehow we were able to get him seated. The only minor positive was that the police escort took us straight through all the traffic lights without stopping. But why they couldn't drop us off at the railway station and made us walk halfway across town is anyone's guess.

Yep. Even better over New Year if the canals have frozen.

Although, in line with a couple of Pinky’s points, there were signs outside some establishments limiting “English people” to 3 drinks only. Probably for the best.

Don't forget the Flemish stew !!

We've stayed on Hotel de Barge ( a barge converted into a hotel moored on the canal by the railway station) a couple of times which was fun. Still don't know how I didn't fall into the canal getting onboard after a few in town.
Last time we went we drove as it's about an hour from Calais pretty much all on autoroute and it meant we could bring a 'few' bottles back :D

If you go via Eurostar then once you change onto the national railway to get from Brussels to Bruges, make sure you're on a fast train otherwise you'll be stopping everywhere. Also make sure you don't get the train at peak hours or you'll be standing most of the way ( one trip my wife was heavily pregnant ie 2 weeks from dropping but no fXcker would give up their seat for her )
