Win this and with our goal difference we are pretty certain to go through top.

Strong team and win. We can always rest in the last two games if we need to.

Thought these were pretty dangerous in the home game, won’t be an easy game.

I'd find a way to rest Cresswell tbh. He plays pretty much every game and will be facing Salah on Sunday.

Get Fredericks in with Coufal RCB, Diop LCB.

If we end up joint top on points it’s decided on the head to head of the two teams involved not GD.

Areola, Coufal, Diop, Dawson, Masuaku, Kral, Vlasic, Yarmolenko surely to play, or get some minutes.

Has Fredericks gone on holiday? 1 small injury and he’s completely vanished.

I didn’t know that

However we’ve beaten everyone once already, so any head to head will be split at worse. Will it be GD overall to separate? Or aggregate score in the head to head.

He came back for last 10 against Genk.
Didn't look right so was stated he wasn't ready for spurs

Article 16 Equality of points – group stage
16.01

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied in the order given to determine their rankings:

a. higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;

b. superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question;

c. higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question;

d. if, after having applied criteria a) to c), teams still have an equal ranking, criteria a) to c) are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the remaining teams to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria e) to k) apply in the order given to the two or more teams still equal;

e. superior goal difference in all group matches;

f. higher number of goals scored in all group matches;

g. higher number of away goals scored in all group matches;

h. higher number of wins in all group matches;

i. higher number of away wins in all group matches;

j. lower disciplinary points total based only on yellow and red cards received by players and team officials in all group matches (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points);

k. higher club coefficient (see Annex D).

A bit more detail given the current state of the table:

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied in the order given to determine their rankings:

higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;

This means that if we draw with Genk they can't finish above us in the group. We'd have 10 points. Their maximum would be 10 points. We've already beaten them so 4-1 to us on points means we are above them.

Same holds for Rapid and Dinamo.

If they don't beat us 3-0 then at least 3rd is guaranteed :scarfer:

Apparently their last two games have been 6-0 & 6-2 wins so confidence will be up!

I’d go:
——————-Areola
——Johnson—Dawson—-Diop
Coufal——————————-Arthur
—————-Noble—Kral
———Vlasic—————Lanzini
——————Yarmolenko

I’d give Creswell a rest ahead of Liverpool and Salah. Yarmolenko is the weak link and if we want to continue to challenge on multiple fronts we really need a decent back up striker in Jan, someone who isn’t part of our normal starting line up (Bowen).

Areola
Fredericks Dawson Diop Coufal
Kral Noble
Lanzini Vlasic Masuaku
Yarmolenko

We can afford to drop point(s) in this one. Liverpool at the weekend is huge.

Any team can still win the group, and it's still possible we could go out:
Zagreb beat Rapid and us, Rapid beat Genk and us, Genk beat us and Zagreb - all teams finish on 9 points!
I think...
a win guarantees us at least second place. We would still need another point to secure top spot unless the other match this week, Dinamo v Rapid, is a draw (in which case, we would win the group if we beat Genk).

If the other game is a draw, then we need two points from the last three games to definitely win the group.

Not only would we need this very specific set of results we'd also have to lose 4-0 to Genk, 3-0 to Zagreb and 3-0 to Vienna so they overthrow our head to head advantage.

We're through, albeit only guaranteed a Conference Play-Off place.
