Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I've been championing Brereton all season, I'd be very smug if we signed him and it worked out.
For that reason you should all hope we don't sign him.

They are lost when they don’t know who we are after.D C wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 9:55 am We may sign no one but it’s still good to know that Spurs’ transfer policy is just as good as it has been for the last decade.
“Paratici has gotten off to a bad start at Tottenham. In the summer he had a £60m budget and he bought a left winger, a centre mid (but left him on loan) and a right back. Fast forward 5 months & we are now looking to deals for a left winger, a centre midfielder and a right back.”

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Would be pretty good if so. I'm not sure the first two deals are necessarily linked but the first could certainly sweeten the second.
Sadly, I think Diop will do very well in a defence set up the way Howe wants. I've said before on here, he's a good player at a specific style, and that style was what Pellegrini wanted him for. It's why he was raved about when being managed by him, but Moyes defensively sets up in basically the opposite way and it's almost entirely to the detriment of Diop, who has his worst attributes highlighted and his best ones called on less. Howe will player more with a defence set up that suits Diop - and probably doesn't have centre backs to hand that currently play that way after Benitez and Bruce were in charge for so long.
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Brereton-Diaz would be a good signing.
We should've gone for Watkins, or Toney even. Once they become PL established it's a huge amount of money to get those kind of players.
Diaz should keep his value if he doesn't make the step up - if he can score 20 goals in half a Championship season then one of the yo-yo clubs is bound to pay £20mil for him, and our deal will certainly have some clauses.
I've got a feeling though he'll be a success. He seems to have a bit of character about him, lots of ambition and his style seemingly suits us. Great age and English too.

Looks like Wout 'WW' Weghosrt is as good as signed for Burnley. We were linked with him in the summer.
Will be interesting to see how he gets on in the Prem. Thought he had higher stock than to get snapped up by a PL bottom club. Let's hope he scores more than Wood does for Newcastle.

Pushing for promotion. Why would they sell now and why would he leave now? I have put it the very, very unlikely pile.Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:46 am I've been championing Brereton all season, I'd be very smug if we signed him and it worked out.

It's so our owners can say,we tried.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 8:04 am Why would Blackburn put a massive dent in their promotion drive by selling Brereton on the last day with no time to replace him? I would have thought that getting promoted would have a bigger financial reward than anything they'd get for Brereton.

Six months under the tutelage of Moyes, Pearce, Nolan and Nevin and this kid will be a 20 goal a season player.Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:46 am I've been championing Brereton all season, I'd be very smug if we signed him and it worked out.

Dyche signing a 6ft 5 striker. Who'd have thought it.
Saying that... he only has 6 goals this season and none of them were with his head.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I’d be very wary of anyone who was really strongly in favour of signing Brereton-Diaz.
Not saying it won’t work, but to be extremely eager for us to sign him, you’d be going off a small period of form.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
So am I right in thinking that, in summary, the below is a summary of incoming links:
CB: Worral (£10m quoted by the Athletic (paywall, linked to alternative report)) or Caleta-Car (£15m quoted as the asking price, GFFN/L'Equipe reporting we've made a loan-to-buy bid)
Forward: Broja or Brereton Diaz (Various reports of a cost of ~£25m-£30m for either, summary here)
Not really much else that I can see/read into over the last few pages - Longelo and Diop possibly on their way out, the first seems to be likely, the second maybe if we can buy a replacement (presumably on top of having another CB coming in).

We now need to be on the look out for Claret and Hugh Ex or any of the the other purported ITK's to refute the Caleta-Car rumour

Wouldn't be surprised to see Depay rock up on loan until the end of the season.

In what regard? It makes a lot more sense to be wary of it, or comfortable but not chomping at the bit.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 11:16 am The same would apply to the alternative - even more so.
