January 2022 Transfer Window

Post by BigFatSam »

Apologies if this seems early but Ex podcast last night suggested that we will be moving for Lingard in January and he’s open to a move.

He also suggested that the new investor is looking to use Sparta Prague as our feeder club, with Adam Hlozek being a player we have interest in.

We all know peoples divided views on Ex but thought it was definitely worth posting 👍🏼

Hlozek would be an incredible signing, a real star in the making. I really hope we can get him here.

I predict that by page 200 of this thread we will be debating Lingard in or out?

I place my bet as follows:

He’s missed the boat, the squad is settled and working well in all of the functions/areas that Lingard would contribute. Squad morale is high and bringing in Lingard would affect that by demoting someone who has been contributing to our successful squad over the last fifteen (25 by January 1st) games. That would be tough on say Benni, Bowen or Fournals, even Vlasic.

Let’s fix one of the under performing/ least covered positions.
👍

I think we could be without Benny for about 5 weeks in due to the AFCON. Id like a striker and a LB/LWB if possible.

Thought Vlasic was signed instead of Lingard? As in we couldn't get Lingard, so we went for Vlasic.

The trouble with getting Lingard now as I see it is one of finances. With so little to go on his contract, surely he will be looking at a bumper payday, 4 or 5 year deal. Would we be willing to pay that for a player who will be 29 by January?

If he's happy to have more realistic wages for the right move (i.e us) then of course it's possible and I'd be delighted if he came back.

Another striker is also a must, as is a backup/competition for Cresswell (though I suspect Moyes will be content to have BJ as backup for there).

Jesse won’t be getting a 5 year deal anywhere, at his age.

He would be a great addition to our already brilliant squad :hamm:

Crikey, you or I could speculate that without making out we have any inside connections.

We need two, maximum.

1. An insurance policy for Rice and Soucek, not sure if Kral is that player - might be, hardly seen him.

2. A quick, AM/CF hybrid who is a good finisher.

Can only think of a few who might be vulnerable to departure due to being really peripheral at the moment.

I think Johnson may be an option at LB as Cresswell needs cover/resting.

Bit if not I'd add a LB.

Lingard is as close to a guaranteed successful signing as you can get, if he’s available then it’s a no brainer to get him.

Other than that another forward would be good, but suspect there’ll still be no one worth getting. Maybe a loan?

Eh, the teams at the bottom will make some signings, if one of the title chasing three are off the pace they might make a big signing, Man City for Kane or Halaand for example.

Tottenham and Man Utd might give new managers some dough.

Other than that there will be little movement, I think we'll move for Lingard and that might be that.

I dont think there is any chance Haaland or Kane will move in Jan**

**Expect them both to leave on the 1st of Jan now

I don't see Moyes wanting to make the squad too much bigger than it is. I think it'll be a max of +1, with one in or two in, one out. Probably no activity though and he'll try and manage without Benrhama for a few weeks. Of course a few bad injuries will change things.

Haaland has a fairly low release clause that activates in January I believe.

I think Moyes will surprise you all and a young left back will be his priority.
