Sometimes you have to just blindly make arguments you think are supporting Moyes because that's your position.

Our biggest weakness in attack is number 10. Our biggest weakness in defence is left back.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Personally I think it's more because he's reverted to wandering around looking lost, doing the two step press, waiting for the ball to come which then invariably bounces off his shin to the opposition, head down and run towards the opponents goal with hardly any awareness of your team mates, shoot from 600 yards at a defenders legs player instead of the almost team playing, pressing cf from the start of the season.Ironing Board wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 3:57 pm Also, I think the reason Antonio is struggling is we are not creating enough at the moment. Lingard would add more to the side than a striker at the current time. We need to be more incisive in our play.
He needs dropping and a new cf in

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Vlasic may well come good but at the moment he has had very, very little impact for us plus he already flopped at Everton.
He needs a goal now to kick on, hopefully that will happen next week against his compatriots Zagreb.
Moyes has been excellent for us in both spells but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t make mistakes. The new striker should’ve been signed before Vlasic but that doesn’t mean he is crap, just not what we needed at that point in time.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
he needs a chance to make an impact first.
remember it tooks moyes a good few months of **** results before giving fornals a sniff (in a throwaway match at anfield after being humilated by man city), and that was the match where we started to turn it all around.

I thought Everton fans were in general disappointed he left?!?!Roby wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 6:24 pm Vlasic may well come good but at the moment he has had very, very little impact for us plus he already flopped at Everton.

He is a tidy player. If you watch him , he rarely seems to give the ball away. Id like to seem him given a decent run now
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
It took Fornals a good few months to get used to the tempo and nature of the PL.
When he first arrived and was thrown in you could see the skill but mentally he was slow and physically lost. I suspect there were a number then who would have called him a flop.
Thing is we needed Fornals then but we can give the likes of Vlasic the time to acclimatise. Yes Benny needs a rest, he has reverted to many of his bad habits from last season, but for me Lanzini is the “next cab off the rank”. When he came on last night he linked play in a way neither Fornals or especially Benny had.
People go on about CL etc this season in a G&S success now or bust mode , sure Moyes would take it if offered but I suspect he is far more about building the club over time. More in tune with Kretinsky than G&S.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
we were toss collectively, but little we did well in that time he was at the heart of (he assisted the goals in our only two wins at the fag end of pellegrini's time).
he was subject to a particularly vicious assault from all of sullivan's mouthpieces as he was 100% a pellegrini transfer and that contorted the perception of him.

Vlasic may well be the next Modric but he’s done nothing so far in our shirt to warrant a start against anyone let alone Chelsea. Lanzini is a different story.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I keep reading that Moyes is giving Vlasic time to acclimatise. Acclimatise to what? He's played 20 minutes in the league in 2 months so he's not getting up to speed or getting used to the nature of the league.Gsbgsb wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 6:51 pm

Don't forget he's played in this league before which is more than Soucek, Benrahma, Fornals, Coufal, Bowen etc.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I think we need a left sided centre half added to that list too. Neither Dawson and Diop are good enough to be regular Premier League starters, IMO.bubbles1966 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 6:04 pm Our biggest weakness in attack is number 10. Our biggest weakness in defence is left back.

To what we want him to do.DannyboyDJL wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 7:25 pm I keep reading that Moyes is giving Vlasic time to acclimatise. Acclimatise to what? He's played 20 minutes in the league in 2 months so he's not getting up to speed or getting used to the nature of the league.

Now is the first time he really has an opportunity to push for a starting spot in the league team (he has played plenty in the cup) and I suspect he is still behind Lanzini. Until now, when fit, the league team pretty much picked itself based on form. In game Moyes makes few changes when things are going well and they tend to be to shore up a result so less likely to be Vlasic.
Surly few would have advocated anything but enforced changes after the Liverpool win. That team (and the team that had got us to 3rd in the league following that result) were playing on merit. You give the players the chance to show Wolves was a one off and they did not do bad at City in the circumstances.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Part of the reason Vlasic wasn't playing is because the others were doing so well prior to the last international break.
Moyes has stuck by the players. It's tough to get in a Moyes team but when you do he gives some room and doesn't drop people quickly.
I expect him to utilise the squad now and Vlasic and kral particularly will sink or swim.
When Vlasic has played it hasn't been with a first choice team and 2 starts on the right.
Still to early to right him off. But I do worry that he, lanzini, benny and fornals are best suited centrally. Makes Lingard an additional CAM and think we need a right winger or a left sided Bowen. Pace and can defend.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I laugh when people defend our players by saying he hasn't played a lot so you can't call him a flop.
When teams play us, I guarantee that every fan who says that will have looked at opposition players in that ONE game and said 'He's rubbish. What a waste of money'.
Good or bad, one game or not, you will see if a player has something about them, especially attacking players.
Vlasic has had enough minutes and produced nothing. Zilch. Not an inkling of anything. All he has shown reinforces why he was a PL flop at Everton.
Moyes transfer record throughout his career has been very poor with a couple of ok signing but lots and lots of flops.
Hope Newman is capable and takes full control of transfers.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Nathan Ake would make a lot of sense. Plays on the left side of the CB's so replaces Ogbonna. If we can get him on loan that would be a good signing i think.
