No thanks.

What are they going to pay for someone with a year left on his deal? £5/6m maybe? At that price it's not worth adding replacing him onto the list of transfer jobs Moyes & Newman are going to have to sort out.

May as well let him see out his deal and kick that problem into next summer.
On current form, Lanzini's price is heading back north of £20m. (must admit, I never saw any likelihood of that happening, but it is).

The club also have a two year option to extend.

I suspect Lanzini will stay until at least his contract is up. I think he’s happy here and Moyes has always liked him. He’s playing every week and is probably playing his best football since Moyes’ last spell here.

He’s been here for so long now it’s easy to forget how young he still is. 28 tends to be a peak age for most midfielders.

Didn't know about the extension. Good news and, unless it's not taken up and he goes on a free next summer, completely kills the idea of him going to Rive Plate any time soon. They've made one signing of more than £4m in about the last 9 years.

Assuming his form and fitness holds up then going back home at 32 with over a decade of UAE and Premier League money sitting in his suitcase sounds like a pretty nice setup.

I suspect he will have designs on going somewhere better. Spurs or Arsenal.

Lanzini is levels ahead of that Buendia at Villa, even when he's not at his best.

How much did Villa pay for him?

I've been impressed with Buendia. Reminds me of Lanzini when he first arrived. The ability to get out of tight spaces and beat a man. Something Manu hasn't quite rediscovered consistently since the injury but there are moments that give you hope.

Lanzini on current form is easily a £20million + player.

Think finding squad places for all of them might be a problem.

If we can get one or two in though would offer a more physical option than Yarmo from the bench.

BBC sport saying it's between us and Newcastle for JLingz but Newcastle prepared to pay them up front for him. That lot are passing into the wind, with him having to make a huge decision. Champions League football or Championship?

44 games in 6 seasons isn't bad for an elite athlete.

That's on average 7 games in roughly 50 games a season.
So he takes part in roughly 84% of all games each season.

I don’t really get these reports (unless I’m reading them wrong!)… “Newcastle are willing to pay £3m…” £3m is nothing for a player even with only 6 months left on his contract. Most pay more for a loan signing. If we’re that desperate for him we’ll pay that and a bit more.

Hamburger wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:14 am Reading between the lines, Lingard may want to join us but we can't offer him the wages he is on but as a free agent in the summer, we could (no fee involved). Also Lanzini will be leaving then to go back to S. America, leaving an AM vacancy. We are not desperate for AMs now so it makes perfect sense but is it viable as things could change between now and then? I certainly can't see him going to Newcastle, potential relegation and no European football.
If he doesn't move this window, he won't be on any wages in the summer.
If he's sold / released, wouldn't part of his remaining contract be paid up as his loyalty bonus - unless he asks to leave?

funky chicken wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 7:38 am Just watched highlights of the Luton vs Bournemouth game. I won’t judge a player purely on just 1 game. But Christ, if Lloyd Kelly defends that badly every week I wouldn’t touch him with a bargepole! And that was against a bang average Championship side.
But defending poorly every week hasn't stopped people wanting Tarkowski.

I think you mean 14%
EDIT: I thought he'd only played 44
