Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Not bad, but can you please provide alternatives for those 4 positions incase we can't sign them?
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Matt O'Riley, probably the best player in league one right now, moving to Celtic from MK Dons for £1.5m. Guy is only 21. Got a good future ahead of him and will be in the Premier League in the next year or two if he carries on his trajectory.
A deal like this for West Ham would be a no brainer. The £1.5m should not be an issue, could be loaned back to MK Dons for the remainder. Next season or two a championship loan. If he kicks on, then he joins the first team, at worst you would get your money back.

FFS here we go again with the "Lingard should be forcing himself out of MU" rubbish, personally i'd prefer a bloke who was a professional and worked for the club paying his weekly wedge than some sulky ****hole who downed tools or caused problems, reckon our manager thinks exactly like that.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
If we sign any player who scores a winning goal in a major final for us, and you called him mediocre, well I would just be peeved young man. And average and mediocre do not mean the same thing!Benaloon wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 1:30 pm I think average covers that crop - none made a significant difference to the teams they played in and while Havertz may yet come good he isn't delivering at the moment. If we're judging players just on finals they've scored in should we sign Eder? scored in a euro final - must be good!

I think he should drive down to the training ground in a west ham kit and pose for a photo doing the crossed irons outside a portakabin and then tweet it with the headline 'MASSIVE'Ozza wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 2:53 pm FFS here we go again with the "Lingard should be forcing himself out of MU" rubbish, personally i'd prefer a bloke who was a professional and worked for the club paying his weekly wedge than some sulky ****hole who downed tools or caused problems, reckon our manager thinks exactly like that.
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I am not agreeing with the original description of either the league or player but that suddenly Schick’s record there this season makes him what we are missing. Yes as the false 9 Havertz has scored similar goals in similar time, not sure that makes him £70m plus. By contrast Werner (who is a “striker”) has scored 25% of the goals in more time on the pitch.Wilko1304 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 1:16 pm As others have mentioned, some of the better results have been ignored, but it was suggesting that these players had flopped. Havertz has come to a new league, new country, got 6 league goals in about the same minutes he'd got 12 in the league in his last season at Leverkusen. xG in 2465 league minutes for Chelsea is 9.3. xG for 2454 league minutes for Leverkusen in his last season was 9.1
Maybe being first choice, getting consistent game time and the fact Chelsea have had two managers in his time is a bit of a factor, more than it being a pad your stats league. And he scored the winner in the CL final. Mediocre at best was the description...
Even Auba (who is arguably the best striker to come out of the Bundesliga) still only scored about 75% of the goals he got in his last 2.5 seasons in Germany in his first 2.5 in England over similar minutes.
Just looking at goals against appearances in a different league does not mean a player will perform similarly in the PL. We cannot afford to buy big and buy wrong in the way the Sky 6 can do if that means taking time to fully assess what the player might bring or passing on players whose immediate stats make them flavour of the window so be it.

I am getting to the point were I don’t actually care who Lingard joins. As long as this relentless speculation ends!

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
It won’t be us for Diego Carlos. We can’t really afford to deal with Sevilla anyway, they’ve been the absolute masters of maximising profit the last 10 years or so. Only clubs that can afford to overpay like Newcastle will buy from there imo

Me too, although I'd pick someone that has a sister that is as fit as a butcher's dog over him though.Ozza wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 2:53 pm FFS here we go again with the "Lingard should be forcing himself out of MU" rubbish, personally i'd prefer a bloke who was a professional and worked for the club paying his weekly wedge than some sulky ****hole who downed tools or caused problems, reckon our manager thinks exactly like that.

They're trying to sign Costa? That's Chris Wood worrying about his first team place already before he's even kicked a ball
