What if Antonio's hamstring goes first week of February. What if Dawson or Diop get injured.

We definitely need replacements and if we don't get any it is a dereliction of someone's duty.

Letting Longelo leave rather than on loan sounds odd but maybe they know he'll never cut it in the Premier league. Looked decent to me though.

I know some of you have made a good case for buying no one but I'll know its the same old West Ham. Just suprise me and get a couple of decent players in to make me think we are serious for once.

The current togetherness within the squad is one of the major reasons, if not the most, why we have improved. Michail is hugely popular within the squad, For that reason there is no question, Michail is the better influence overall.
Except it's been said a lot that he is still popular with the players and was a well liked player?

If he'd maintained his form we'd have struggled to hold on to him, as bigger clubs would have come calling and he'd have pushed through a move whilst banking a hefty pay increase.

Instead he decided to cash in and ensure his whole career will be summed up by saying 'failed to reach his potential'. Ok he has more money in the bank but the damage done to his legacy and how he will look back on his career was huge imo.
Not all footballers play for glory or trophies ...or even love of the game

For some it's a job.

He's good at it and he made a mint

I doubt he thinks he threw away anything

The money was ridiculous

Antonio would run through a wall for his team and teammates, there is no such thing as a lost cause, he just keeps battling until he cannot. Arnie not so much. How do you assess that in “better player”.
No doubt Antonio has the heart and character.
Arnie a much better footballer imo and is the type of player we should be aiming for rather than an Antonio type.

The key being I think someone like Arnautovic can play the game well at different speeds. Can slow it down with neat passing and technical ability - compsure. Antonio needs to be playing at 100 miles an hour. He forces defenders into make or break moments. He is either away or they are on us with a break away.

We want a striker as an outlet but also to bring others into play. So many times vs Man utd I wanted Antonio to just hold it up, lay it off and get us up the field as a unit. Don't try and turn the defender every time as was just loosing out.

If we can get a younger Arnautovic type - fast, strong target man who has a bit more link up play I'd happily sacrifice the conversion rate (like Arnie who needed 3 chances to score often).

Antonio appears to be getting criticised because people are angry we havent signed another striker.

Not sure it's his fault

You are totally right - he wouldn’t have scored so many goals however had we had another decent striker

This is complete crap.

You think he's not trying because he thinks he's unstoppable? Way to question the guy's character.

Did Fabianski stop trying last year as he didn't have competition?

Definitely not. However I do think Fab has gone up a level since Areola came in.

I'd take that Barbosa He's cheap and he's cheap because he's probably crap, most likely another Emineke, but nobody else wants him and nobody else wants him, because they probably know he's crap, but because of Sully, we won't get anyone else and even if he is another Emineke, he'll still score a few goals
