Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Wood is a good player who;s never had real creativity and talent around him.
And he still doesn't.
He'd have probably done a great job at us, Brighton etc.

No the clause means Burnley had to accept Newcastle's offer.Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 4:21 pm Was Wood obliged to accept the transfer once the clause was triggered?
Newcastle then have to agree a contract.
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Over 550 minutes of PL football no goals, 2 lengthy spells out last season with knee and other injury. He is young, clearly talented but really any better than our own U23’s?bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 11:33 am So the guy last night, Adam Idah. He looked good enough to come off the bench for 20 minutes up front and mix things up a bit. Bet he would be less than £5m.
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Simon Jordan saying that the release clause isnt active until the coming summer therefore Burnley have just accepted Newcaste's offer as it's decent money, paid as a lunp sum rather than on drip.El brooko79 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 4:28 pm No the clause means Burnley had to accept Newcastle's offer.

SSN reporting that NUFC have now offered for Seville defender Diego Carlos.
Newcastle are not messing about and are buying in bulk this window.

£25 million apparently.
I'd have been livid if we'd made that deal.

30 years old with a 1 in 3 record.
£12.5m for 6 goals between now and May
£12.5m to deny Burnley the same.
Apparently he wanted to say no, but couldn’t.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Well, yeah, they have trucks of blood money and look like being relegated.
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Yeah but I think a decent signing for Newcastle at the mo. Weakens Burnley. He'll get on the end of Trippier's balls, (!) possibly a decent partner for Wilson if necessary and would hang around and be effective in the championship if it all goes wrong.Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 5:10 pm £25 million apparently.

SSN seem adamant we’re in for Gabigol...which probably means it isn’t true.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
With no worries about money and in a relegation scrap I can see why they went for him.
A quick easy signing who knows the league and can lead the line in a relegation scrap.
But anyone bemoaning that we haven't signed him needs to give their head a wobble.
People can't have it every which way, complaining that we're not making signings to reach the next level and then also complaining that we're not signing Chris Wood.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
£25 million on Chris Wood could potentially destroy the market. What does that put Antonio's worth at?OohAahButler wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 5:29 pm Alternative view is that they’ve totally ****ed the market
It's like the Maguire to Man Utd deal that made us all say "Well Rice is worth £100+ Million then!"

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Personally I think wood will do really well there, he’s a good all round forward
25m for a premier league player who averages 10+ league goals a season seems about right maybe even under market price.
