Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Not a chance we're signing Carroll IMO. Just a silly rumour that's escalated.
Ex thinks there's a chance we might make an early move for Carvalho at Fulham.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
25m for Ward Prowse? Absolute no chance. Worth double that. And he would get a better side than us if he was available.bubbles1966 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 10:56 pm Southampton would probably bite at £25m-£30m. They are a selling club.
I'm not a fan of Tielemans at all but his contract is in the last 18 months so Leicester are going to find offer levels dropping soon.
Ward Prowse replaces Cresswell in terms of set piece delivery.

Ah, I thought it would be an AM approach, rather than a PM..Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 11:32 am Early as in not waiting till the summer when he's a free agent.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I believe that if another club came in for a player that we really wanted then we'd act - like we did with Bowen. If we're standing by whilst another club buys a player we've been linked with, chances are that we really didn't want that player - or at least he wasn't high enough on our shortlist to intervene.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Signing Carvalho is certainly the sort of shrewd move we should look to make, but I'm not sure we should expect a 19 year old signed from the Championship with sub-20 first team appearances in their career to fire us to a top 6 finish in the league.
Definitely one we'd be signing with an eye to the future, and I wouldn't be surprised if any deal we did do for them saw them stay at Fulham through the rest of this season, at least.

I don't agree that it is about not being 'fussed' He has repeatedly said he wants to add quality to the squad. However, I believe he is at pains not to undermine confidence within the squad looking by desperate and also being pragmatic - focusing on how to make the best of what he has got rather than what he hasn't. Seems good management to me.Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 11:07 am I don't think Moyes is all that fussed about signing anybody at the moment

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I know it was on Talkshite but they just had a journalist on who said that we are in pole position to sign the Hungarian defender Szalai from Fenerbache, apparently we've been tracking him for 2 years, also hopeful of getting Lingard, he expects us to be busy before the window shuts.
I'd like to see Mitrovic given a chance under Moyes, I know he's struggled in the prem before, but playing in front of Bowen, Fornals, Benny, Vlasic or Lanzini I reckon he'd get better service and he'd score goals for us.

I'm resigned to us not bringing in anyone. God only knows what we're paying Newman for

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Saw a stat at the weekend. Ward-Prowse is second in goals from Direct Free kicks in the PL era (13 I think it was). Beckham top with 18.
He would be a great signing but would be £50million+. Surprised he hasn't been touted towards Liverpool etc. Great player.

Are you privy to the meetings Moyes has with Newman and his scouting team?

It seems only an Antonio clone will do.Liam wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 10:58 am Just seen someone on twitter post that this is Moyes 6th transfer window for us and he has signed just one striker, who went on to play 22 mins of football for us....
I'm not beating Moyes up about this and i know that Lingard and Bowen both can play up front, but surely over those 6 windows there has been someone that could have helped the squad out.
Hoping I’m proved wrong in the next few weeks.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Would be just like Moyes to sign Szalai after scouting him for 2 years. Checking everything, ensuring he's the right kind of player, bringing him in only when it works best (or we're forced to act) and it works a dream.
Dithering might pay off. Equally, striking when the iron is hot (Calvalho) is just as much his wheelhouse.
We're talking about a man who has completely transformed our club. If he wants to wait until the last week of the window to pull a few rabbits out of his hat, I'm happy to wait. In Moyes we trust.
