Yes I suspect Coufal back in for Johnson and a space for Lanzini with Benrahma most likely to miss out.

I think we will win this.

We need to if we want to stay where we are, that mid table dross Arsenal are level on points with us.

-Fredericks————-Bowen————————Fornals-

Subs: Areola, Johnson, Diop, Masuaku, Kral, Vlasic, Benrhama, Yarmolenko, Antonio.

Antonio has been ***** for a while. So I’d drop him to the bench as a polite wake up call for him. Johnson has been superb. But the time is right now to give Coufal a go again. I’d play Dawson for this one as Brighton can be dangerous in the air with their centre halves. But I’d be tempted to bring Diop in for the Chelsea game, unless we somehow keep a clean sheet in this game. I was tempted to keep Benrhama in the team for at least 1 more game, or even give Vlasic a chance to see if he can continue where he left off from the Rapid Wien game. However, with pace of Lamperty on our left hand side I felt we may need Fornals to help Cresswell out. Fredericks on the right as no one else can play there in Bowen’s absence from that side, other than Yarmolenko.

No too bothered about resting Rice so he doesn’t get a ban. We’d probably lose to Chelsea even with him in the team. May as well use him in a game we at least stand a chance.
If Vlasic can’t get a game ahead of our third-choice right back on his favoured side he may as well give up.

In terms of on the wing anyway, but I’m not sure Moyes will give him a go down the middle right now.

I think December is going to be an awful month for us. We need to get at least a point but no easy games

I'd look to mix it up a little bit. Not as a reaction to losing 2 games (We're west ham,we can't win every week) but more for rotation.

Areola
Coufal, Zouma, Diop, Cresswell
Rice, Souceck
Vlasic, Lanzini, Fornals
Bowen

I like Fabianski but have been impressed with Areola in the cup games, much better distribution too.
Coufal needs to get back in the team. I don't see this as 'dropping' Johnson but rotating. He's still young and this is his first proper season in the first team squad.
Vlasic played well Thursday and would like to see more.
Bowen for Antonio. Antonio I think has had a few iffy games. I'd unleash him against Chelsea on Saturday.

Our overall record against them is 18 wins, 18 losses, 19 draws.

Our last win was April 1012 when we won 6 nil.

Our last top flight win was March 1983 when we won 2-1

We're on a winless streak of 8 games, 3 losses then 5 draws. They've scored in each of those 8 games averaging 2 goals per game.

Seeing as we're not going to win I'm going to choose an experimental team & if Moyes decides to go with it the onus is on him, not me. I take no responsibility for his ultimate choices.

Areola
Coufal Diop Zouma Johnson
Lanzini Kral Noble Masuaku
Perkins Vlasic

2-2

I think rotating a few here would be beneficial for all involved.

Fab
Coufal
Dawson
Zouma
Cresswell (Johnson if needs be)
Soucek
Rice
Vlasic
Lanzini
Fornals
Bowen

Fingers crossed Cresswell is fit. Coufal for Johnson is a no brainer as he gives more going forward. Mic looks knackered and I’d prefer him fresh for the Chelsea game. Vlasic looks ready to be relied on a bit more. Lanzini deserves a run out too and Benny has looked poor for a while now so deserves to be dropped.

A tight 2-1 with West Ham just coming out on top. Fornals and Bowen with the goals. Coyi!

*Should Cresswell not be 100%

On the face of it this looks like a very defensive line-up, however there's method to my madness based on our last few games and Brightons formations recently.

We've become a bit disjointed and found it difficult stringing a few decent passes together for large parts of recent league games. Understandable when you think of some of the opposition but the fact remains.

Brighton have used a number of different line ups from 4-2-3-1, 3-4-3, 4-3-3 and 3-5-2. The one thing they do though regardless of formation is get bodies in the middle of the park and often press hard.
Negate the numbers there and I reckon we can nullify a great deal of their possession and the platform to play attacking balls to Lampety and Trossard on the wings/channels.

Selecting 3 defensive midfielders, especially at home, looks daft but we all know that Soucek and Rice can and will get forward as and when and can be dangerous when they do so.
It also removes some of the emphasis off of Bowen and Fornals in their defensive duties and priming them for a more attack minded game.

Harsh on Lanzini and Johnson and rather easy on Antonio after recent performances but this set up provides us with a great base to dominate and the ability to change things depending on how the game is going.
Benrahma or Vlasic to help with the attack, Lanzini to gain more control/creativity (or bang one in), Noble or Dawson to shut the game down or a (little) maybe Perkins to pop up and supplement things at the sharp end

Of course St. David won't do anything like this he's far too sensible compared to the likes of me and my armchair 'maestro management'

Time fir a few changes I feel

Fab
Coufal zouma diop Johnson
Rice kral lanzini
Vlasic bowen fornals

Subs Areola Fredericks Dawson alese noble soucek Antonio oxoflex yarmolenko

Let's see how diop and z do in preferred positions, plus Dawson needs a rest
Cresswell won't be ready for this one against lamptey!
Soucek needs to be dropped as poor recently
Antonio needs to be dropped as poor
Benrahma needs a rest as been poor time for Vlasic to step up

1-0 hammers we finally beat them !

His favoured side is neither side. He's a central attacking midfielder. He's not a traditional winger that's going to do a great job hugging the touchline and whipping in crosses.

They're a wannabe Liverpool, try keeping the ball and then attacking with their full backs.

We should be able to spring quick counter attacks on them as they play the same style every game.

Let them pass the ball around, have Rice or Zouma nip in and take the ball of their toes then spring forward with pace.

Areola - purely for counter attack distribution
Coufal Dawson Zouma Cresswell
Rice Soucek
Bowen Lanzini Fornals
Antonio

Lanzini to play slightly deeper to collect the ball and distribute to the full backs or into the path of Antonio and Bowen.

The right wing back role seems to be a right of passage into their first team.

I just hope we attack with intent and look to get the ball forward at every opportunity.
