A second battery of Patriots and a load of IFV's on there way from the USA and Germany.
That's fine but they need tanks, proper tanks.
Abrams M1 plus a load of support kit for building bridges quickly, logistic support, deployment of Ammo.

Open the door for the Russians to attack Ukraine's arms suppliers? Too many of those, grantedJohnny Byrne's Boots wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 12:11 pm The Iranian drone factory might need an unfortunate accident too.

may be just a slight dose of 'electronic covid', just to slow things down a bit, without altogether halting production?vietnammer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 1:15 pm Open the door for the Russians to attack Ukraine's arms suppliers? Too many of those, granted

I don't disagree with the "need" but they cannot maintain them or keep them fueled PP. There are already problems with NATO kit having to go back to Poland for servicing and maintenance meaning it is out of action for long periods.the pink palermo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 11:52 am A second battery of Patriots and a load of IFV's on there way from the USA and Germany.

Plenty of Ukrainians being trained in NATO countries at the moment and I'd suspect at least some of that is on more advanced systems but you need huge supply lines and large numbers of support troops to keep this stuff in the field.

The war in the East continues to be destructive and horrific. Depending on who you believe (!) Soledar remains in Ukrainian hands with an estimated 15,000 Russian casualties to make the “progress” they have so far. That number could be double that.

Re: Russian invasion of Ukraine
Is it when NATO sends in actual front line troops that it becomes NATO fighting Russia?
Just that I keep seeing that all these weapons platforms are being sent over to help the Ukraine, Challenger tanks now, along with some serious missiles & rockets and stuff. sure there must be loads of 'advisors' over there as well.

Re: Russian invasion of Ukraine
My understanding is there are no boots on the ground. The risk is too high. All training etc is in NATO countries.Hummer_I_mean_Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 4:38 pm Is it when NATO sends in actual front line troops that it becomes NATO fighting Russia?

Re: Russian invasion of Ukraine
Regardless of whether there's a recognised definition, I think the pragmatic answer is "When Russia decides it is."Hummer_I_mean_Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 4:38 pm Is it when NATO sends in actual front line troops that it becomes NATO fighting Russia?

Re: Russian invasion of Ukraine
This is frightening, and not just for it’s corny production.
They’re obsessed with the “special military operation”, everything is propaganda.
