Re: Russian invasion of Ukraine
Economically, yeah, there doesn't seem to be much of an effect on our everyday lives as of yet. Food prices have jumped somewhat but nothing most of this current generation that lived through 1998 hadn't seen before.
It will be interesting to see what happens when/if the debt default happens as currently the government has the money to pay its debts but has no means of doing it because of the sanctions. How that will affect our lives is impossible to tell tbh.
My work has already dried up due to this whole mess and I've never been in this much debt in my life. Not sure I can handle much more of that.

Technically I'm a freelance translator but I've been working for the same patent firm for about 15 years now, translating patents for them. Naturally, the stream of patents from the West is not what it used to be, I'd probably be completely without work if it wasn't for China.

Not saying this is fake (no idea who the guy in the photo is) but Pavel is a first name in Russia, never really a surname. So at the very least, whoever posted this didn't get the name right.

Reminds me of when Neil Ruddock joined Swindon and they had to order him some larger shorts.

Re: Russian invasion of Ukraine
Hundreds of kilometres from the frontline. Reports saying two missiles which seems to rule out this being a mistake.
Just bloody awful.

Probably timed by Putin to send a message during the G7 summit.

Re: Russian invasion of Ukraine
I think I heard on the news that Russia has moved some cruise missiles to Belarus, and the ones that hit Kiev recently came from there. A clear escalation, I wonder what "The West's" response will be?
