Is now a good time for the season to be suspended?
With most clubs now reporting cases and games getting called off it seems inevitable that the season may get suspended at some point.
Taking into account our slight dip in form, injuries and with the January transfer window just round the corner would now be the opportune time for the season to be suspended?
Personally I think anything less then 3 points against Norwich will see our season and confidence sky fall.
Why are we not getting any cases when all other clubs are?

Norwich might be off. What if the FA/ govt then step in if cases increase as predicted?
I'd imagine that we would benefit most than any other club right now from a break in proceedings so as to give us time to regroup, rest the players, get injured players back and then call in the cavalry in the January transfer window.

Re: Is now a good time for the season to be suspended?
Yep the revenue generated from footy is vital.
No attendances will again damage all clubs particularly further down the leagues.
Businesses survive on match day revenue and those that did survive may not again.
Teams like Norwich, Leicester trying to get games called off to cover for other injuries is wrong.
Man Utd and Spurs are blatantly trying to give new managers more time and get to the transfer window.
We can't want a suspension just because it will help us (although it has certainly crossed my mind).
Re: Is now a good time for the season to be suspended?
The problem with cancelling now is the sheer number of games that would be cancelled due to how packed the schedule is.
I guess that could be mitigated if the rest of the season was pushed back by 2-3 weeks but I'm not sure this new variant will die down by early Jan in any case.
I can't see how the season can be suspended and all the games still be completed by early May that's for sure.

Re: Is now a good time for the season to be suspended?
Based purely on our current form and players starting to look a bit leggy I think now would be a great time for the season to be suspended!
From a logistical point of view it would be a nightmare though, what with next season being interrupted by the bleedin' World Cup in December as it is this season can't end up dragging on until July like the season before last!
There's no grounds for managers complaining about the amount of games though as this is purely because of a pandemic which is beyond anyone in footballs control.
Back to back matches?!

Could we skip a few weeks, then resume with 30min x 30min matches?
Maybe play 7 vs 7 and play two games on the same date?

Leicester v Tottenham, postponed.
Edit: According to SSN, though they have said they are awaiting official confirmation from Premier League.

It’s all worked out very well for Spurs.
There’s no way catching up with these games will be as tough as playing them out in December.

Re: Is now a good time for the season to be suspended?
Would be great if Norwich is called off as otherwise you can write off the Spurs 1/4 final next week. They would have had a 2 week break whereas we would played 4 games during the same period.
That's a clear unfair advantage
Re: Is now a good time for the season to be suspended?
I think it's another reason to question the integrity of the competition.
Brendan Rodgers was quoted yesterday:
"But since then, we have picked up more injuries. They are not Covid-related - but they are, because players are picking up injuries because we can't rotate the team and the squad because of the number of players we already have out."
The same article implies Tottenham wanted to play their Europa Conference game tonight instead. So 7 days after the original was postponed, they have tried to shoehorn it in. Despite a ruling of 10 days of isolation after a positive case.
Games are now being postponed because of injuries? We had our first choice back four out last night!
Or postponed for COVID cases for unnamed players with little transparency from the club in question or the governing body on how many cases equate to a cancellation?

Tottenham vs Leicester off.
If our game against Norwich goes ahead and we play Tottenham a few days later, I can only seeing it end in defeat. Tottenham will be fresh and we will be far from it.

Conte and Spurs,(maybe United too) are the one's that are going to take big advantage of this..Next time they'll play, they may have 5 new signings in the team?paulhs1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 10:01 amAgreed.

Can you imagine us facing them in the League Cup with players that shouldn't have been playing?

Spurs seem to be getting away with murder. Manipulation of rules.
