We'd be quite poor at passing if all three played bar Rice.Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 11:50 am Yes, this is not a bad idea
It may seem illogical that adding a DM midfielder would improve our attacking but it might
We would need to abandon the counter attack though and play a possession
Trouble is, i don't think Soucek is good enough on the ball to play further forward. his main skill is running into the box from very deep, not playing between the lines

It's fine though the fourth official gave them a free-kick and Bowen a booking when none of the on the field officials gave it

That's Conte's hair - it's in the tumble drier at this very moment.

To be fair, that’s a far more successful thatch job than Bilic had.

Spurs fans are classless morons aren’t they
From the highlights I noticed Areola made one save. From Kane yet Lloris pulled off three great saves and we hit the bar.
Sorry but where in football terminology does that translate to ‘battered’.
Anyway they will get turned over by Chelsea and will be back to falling down the league soon once they actually start playing some games again. Kane was absolutely shocking too wasn’t he.
As for their second, it was on side as the balls as initially pulled back.
I would much prefer to be top 6 in the league and get top the Europa final than worry about the League Cup albeit any silverware is nice.

Shame VAR was not enabled for the game as would probably have been disallowed - is he directly in the line of the keeper though?
Regardless, we really should be dealing with the cross better. We get caught on our toes in the penalty box on many occasions

Re: ⚽ Tottenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
The ball was cut back so not offside.
Edit - Not sure I’m right actually. It was cut back and all players were behind the ball so he can’t be offside then. When it’s shot past him though, he’s ahead of the ball or is it all one movement?
I’m still confused about the one that didn’t touch Antonio re Brighton. Quite happy to see a game without VAR mind.

We are talking about the player in front of Areola when Moura shot and not the cross.

Re: ⚽ Tottenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
the debate is the OTHER Spurs player in line of sight of the keeper. I "think" he dives to his right to make the save and that's where the Spurs player is standing. it makes him "unsighted" - kind of like when we scored (Soucek ?) and Antonio was ruled offside because he was laying down in front of the keeper. was it Chelsea last year ?
Jamie O'Hara said he thought if VAR had been employed it would have been ruled out due to that.
not the initial ball to Moura.

I know, but neither are offside when the ball’s cut back. You’re right though, I assume he is offside when the shot comes in if he’s interfering with play.
There’s been really inconsistent calls on that - I prefer honest mistakes and assume the ref thought it made no difference to the strike.

Re: ⚽ Tottenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
in all honesty and in fairness to the ref, Johnson is probably blocking a great view. it would have needed VAR and it wasn't in force so bit of a moot point but nevertheless.....................
