Loved the bit about “a full strength West Ham team”. Cracking stuff, really made me laugh.

Freeze it a 3'33 - would make a fantastic picture in focus - he is surrounded by 8 opponents

All excellent questions Crossd Hammrs. You've put the words in my mouth.Crossd_Hammrs wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 11:09 am When did Rice last play CB?
Had he ever played CB in the PL?
Come to think of it, when did he last head a ball?
And FWIW, I haven't got a scooby when Rice headed the ball, either . . .
Am really not sure if Rice would be any good at all as a CB - or if he'd be better than either of our current pairing. Same could be said for Soucek.
For Rice playing CB in the prem you have to go all the way back to 2020 (yes, I had to google it as well)

Anyhow, back to the main point that loads of posters on here have said before: we cant' defend for toffee right now. To say that we are brittle or weak at the back is an understatement. Both the Palace and Watford games illustrate we have to rely on outscoring the opposition whenever we play without our first choice CBs.

Wow. That’s got to be the dumbest OV I’ve ever read.Up the Junction wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 1:58 pm The opposition view: Crystal Palace

Loved the guy that pointed out that they’d be 6th if they hadn’t conceded goals in a few of their games or given away some penalties.

A few sensible and fair posts on this week’s OV, but a lot of nonsense.
My favourite:
“If we hadn't scored 3 goals we wouldn't have won”
Yep, and if my Auntie had bollox, she’d be my Uncle.

Re: ⚽ Crystal Palace vs West Ham Utd: match thread
my favourite one was the below -
We're currently 11th with 20 points. Realistically we should currently be 7th with 31 points if JUSTICE was fair. Yes, you could argue you make your own luck and all that bollox but that's only true to a degree. Luck is luck. That's why it called LUCK! The same for bad luck. Brighton and Arsenal, two points dropped from last kick of the game. Newcastle, two points dropped from last minute VAR decision. Leeds, one point dropped from last minute handball. That selection of games gives us 31 points. At the end of the day, nobody can say we didn't deserve to win last night. Which means we'd be level on points with the Spammers because they'd only have 31 points too, not 34. And 31 points would give us a "realistic" chance of aiming for a top 6 finish. Sometimes the table does lie."

And i think this bloke is trying too hard to pretend he's posh - I reckon he collects trolleys in Croydon's Waitrose Car Park
"One is recognising the quality of the skill and shot for Lanzini's goal, but Rice was able to advanced unchallenged in 'acres' of space. And one does not think that Andersen covered himself in glory when he closed in on Lanzini and never made a challenge. Lanzini was easily able to shift the ball on to what is his 'weaker' foot as Andersen ran past him. But I share the view that CPFC were the better team. Umpteen attempts at goal, hit the woodwork twice and played well.Ruddy unlucky."

We really have to be careful about upsetting the Nigels, they may send one of their keyboard 'ultras' round to sort us out. I am beginning to dislike the Nigels more and more, I used to be ambivalent but the OV shows that they have more than their fair share of village idiots including Simon Jordan. I hope we batter them next time.

But, surely it's far more satisfying to beat them in the manner we did, whilst understrength, and nowhere near our best..

Re: ⚽ Crystal Palace vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Not an unexpected OV, some proper numpties and some fair comments.
Funny old game, even 3 up I never felt comfortable, we were a little off it, which in fairness I was expecting. Defence continue to be a worry but again expected considering who we have out. We did though score some proper crackers, and we won when not at our best, happy days and a welcome 3 points to keep us well in the mix. A decent ish rest and hopefully a couple of new players will see us getting more of our "spark" back.
Can't fault the team in regards to giving everything though, they really are a credit to us

If this game were a 1500mtrs race it would look something like this - we started by getting blocked in to last place at the first corner, then overtook the pack coming into the end of lap one, by the 750mtre mark we are 100ntrs clear of the other runners, who slowly haul a tiring us in during the final lap, where we have to dip hard for the tape to win. Not very tactically astute, but hey ho. a wins a win, especially with three qtrs of our defense out and missing key energy and cover from midfield down our left which gave them room and joy all game.
As for them, miss that many decent chances and you get what you deserve, sweet FA.

Do they normally play the theme music from The Long Good Friday a few minutes before the teams run out when we play them ?
Nice touch I thought.

It was the White Stripes, I thought.

I seem to remember him playing centre back against Arsenal at the Emirates, you're right he pulled out of a header in that matchCrossd_Hammrs wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 11:09 am When did Rice last play CB?

Every Palace mate in the stadium got a piss-taking text due to the White Stripes disco mix, but I actually don't recall that piece of music you just linked...the pink palermo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 7:37 pm There was a disco white stripes thing, but they defo played
