AFCON 2022
Not long to wait now and West Ham United have their very own Said Benrahma playing for the defending champions, Algeria.
The organisers have announced that all nations will have to turn out a team provided they have eleven fit players, even if there isn’t a goalkeeper amongst that number. Failure to do so will result in the match being forfeited 2-0.
Mods please move this thread if it’s covered elsewhere.

AFCON 2022
Not long to wait now.
The defending champions, Algeria, kick off against Sierra Leone on Tuesday and of course they include the diminutive Said Benrahma of the world famous West Ham United.

Re: AFCON 2022
Sky has all the games BBC are showing 10 (5 group games and 5 in the later stages)
First games are today (Sunday) by the way. The Covid thing I can see them going the NFL route, no symptoms, no tests, no problem.
Group A (both on Sky Sports)
Cameroon v Burkina Faso 16:00
Ethiopia v Cape Verde 19:00

Speaking of Geography who else had to Google Comoros? Never heard of the place. Sounds like a Cyber protection company, nice story though (if a bit modern in the recruitment of players)WestHamLyallStyle wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 10:12 amCameroon v Burkina Faso is a West African derby if my geography is holding out.

This tournament is an absolute waste of piss.
About as much poise, technical ability, and footballing intelligence as a chicken drumstick.

Re: AFCON 2022
that was odd.
the tunisia v mali game. The ref finished the match before 90 mins with mali winning 1-0 .
He didn't give any injury time despite a drinks break included, and injuries, subs etc.
The tunisians were livid having a go at the ref on the pitch.

Officials barged into the Mali manager's press conference and they're now going to restart the game to play.....3 minutes.kitthehammer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 2:56 pmthat was odd.

It should have been at least 5 minutes.
8 subs, 2 penalties (including a goal) and a red card, not to mention the drinks break. 3 mins?
Tournament is averaging 1 goal per match.

Re: AFCON 2022
apparently tunisia refused to play the last few minutes so mali were the only team on the pitch.
Apparently the ref had also tried to stop the match 5 mins early.
Dodgy as ****
not surprised they didn't go onto the pitch.

Re: AFCON 2022
I've been reliably informed also, that this referee has been suspended in the past on corruption allegations.
Cancel the shitshow, get the lads back home to some proper fitbah.

Janny Sikazwe appears to be making it up as he goes along. Fantastic. We need to see more of this. Next game he’ll stop the game even earlier if any of his decisions are challenged and promptly walk off with the match ball saying it’s his ball so like it or lump it.
