Microsoft to buy Activision/Blizzard in $68.7B deal.
Huge deal worth almost $70Billion. As a Blizzard fan I wonder what this will mean, massive amount of money for a games company but Microsoft have a decent history of integrating acquisitions into the brand. Still staggering how much money 'games' make and how they have grown since those early days in the 80s.

Is it still the same company, or have Activision done an Atari over the years with just the name remaining from the good old days?

They became the thing they wanted to replace, it is very ironic the company formed from bully practices of Atari has become on of the largest and most hated bully boys out there. But there is always a bigger fish and they themselves have now been swallowed. Makes the largest Western gaming company and puts Microsoft in charge of the likes of Diablo, World of Warcraft and more importantly Candy Crush and Call of Duty.Up the Junction wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 2:12 pm Is it still the same company, or have Activision done an Atari over the years with just the name remaining from the good old days?

Interesting bit of monopolisation going on, they also bought out Zenimax last year so own Doom etc and Elder Scrolls Online.

Pretty amazing. Definitely pushing me towards an Xbox when I eventually upgrade, if Diablo 4 ends up exclusive as well as Starfield.

Just seen that $20B was wiped off Sony share value after this. That's 13%....

It is crazy, the fear of losing Call of Duty from a console where 12 years olds shout abuse at each other, can cause that sort of share price change.Hummer_I_mean_Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 11:08 am Just seen that $20B was wiped off Sony share value after this. That's 13%....

Any excuse for a stock to drop at the moment and it will.

Might be a good time to get some Sony stock, looks like they might be moving into EV's

Absolutely. Atari let some of their top programmers go after famously telling them they were no more important than the people who put the cartridges in the boxes in the factory. I wonder what David Crane thinks of what they become?

I saw something a out this, what struck me was the loyalty bonuses being discussed to keep the original coders/writers on board.

Read something like mid-2023 till the Activision games start dropping on Gamepass
Dan, that's about 18 months till we can - potentially, god-willing - load up a game of Modern Warfare 2
