Took for granted how many great goals I saw from the front row of that stand in the 30 years I say there.
Di Canio, Sinclair v Derby, Benayoun, Ferdinand, Payet and even Thierry Henry’s in 2002.

I can't remember a better one.
If it was sky they'd be gushing over that one Ronaldo scored against Pompey.

Thing is, that wasn't even the best free kick that Payet scored for us.
This was.

That Ronaldo one isn't a patch on either of those.

Nah the Palace one for me. He was so close to goal to get it up and down and that pace. 6 men in the wall. Magic.

IIRC one of the Palace players called "see ya" as the ball went up, thinking it'd sail over the bar...

The Palace one over the United one any day.
Off the top of my head, can only really think of that Roberto Carlos goal that had a similar sense of breaking the laws of physics about it and Carlos spent the rest of his career shanking those into Row Z to prove that was a fluke.
Having Payet on free kicks that season felt almost as good as winning a penalty, which was just absurd.

That free kick goes past the entire opposition XI before hitting the net. There can't be too many goals where that is the case. (I can just think of instances where goalkeepers have accidentally scored from distance.)

That's true of both the Payet ones on this page, I think? Perhaps not that unusual with free kicks.

The Crystal Palace free kick for me.
Me and my son were in the Trevor brooking upper stand,
Its incredible how the ball dipped, we thought it was sailing over.
We are just out of view on that video - in the second row at the front in line with the left post (right post as you watch the video)

That Palace free kick is probably the best I've ever seen. I've watched it a million times and it just gets better and better

Imagine that went Henry shot flies over the bar. We win the game. Stay up. Keep the core of that team and build somethi...
Sorry, I couldn't resist pretending to start
that classic debate all over again

Whether it’s the best or not I don’t know. But it is the most unique. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one go in like that before. Every time I watch it I still think it’s going to balloon over the bar!

The one ay OT was more satisfying, but the one against Palace was next level. I'd put it up there with the Carlos free kick, or my personal favorite the Cubillas free kick against Scotland in 78 WC.

The Palace one for me.
Whatever anybody says,Payet was absolute class.
One of the greatest players I have seen in a West Ham shirt(going over 50 years).
