South American and other WCQs

Post by Cuenca 'ammer » Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:37 pm

well, so far Ecuador 0 Brasil 1

Ecuador gk sent off, rightly so, boot up under the Brasil striker's chin

Emerson Royal sent off for 2 yellows.

all within about 18 minutes

now Allison gets a red for a high clearance then his boot that catches our old mate Enner Valencia in the head

VAR check.

Liverpool VAR in effect, changed to a yellow. with the stoppages for VAR etc I'm guessing there should be at least 10 minutes of stoppage. what's the bet it's 3

Breteton Diaz should be playing for Chile against Argentina later this evening.

Big Mike should be playing for Jamaica against Mexico later

well, well, well....10 minutes added in Quito..

US games will be interesting. Next 3 are in Columbus Ohio v El Salvador, where there's currently a snowstorm. Hamilton Canada. It's Canada, they'll be frozen. And the last game to be played in St. v Honduras Paul, MN. Expected temp -10C. Not particularly courteous to our Central American neighbors.

No, but there's an interview with the Canadian coach (who's English) on the BBC saying that they have had to put up with sweltering temperatures that no Canadian is used to for years so decided to be less nice. It has worked as they top the CONCACAF group.

Ecuador forward doing his best Mo Salah impersenation penalty awarded.

oh wait, Liverpool VAR in effect.

No Penalty..

(must admit it was 50/50)

more controversy in this game than I've seen for a long while....

and for the penalty call/non call the ENTIRE Brasilian team surround the ref for about 3 minutes..

another penalty awarded to Ecuador 93 minutes in

VAR check yet again..ref gives 2nd second yellow to Alison but VAR has not reached a decision- he's off - and yet again the team are surrounding the ref.

how can they give a yellow if VAR hasn't sorted it out yet, and if it's a yellow it MUST be a foul and therefore should be a cert pk...at least 3 plus minutes for VAR..yellow and pk overturned...

what an absolute crock...not sure it was a pk because it looked like Alison might have got a piece of the ball first. even so.........now 100 minutes on the clock.

pretty sure this is the first time supporters have been allowed into games since the pandemic started. season finished here maybe 3 months or more ago.

on a stream think it was maybe ended up being one of those South African links

looks like Micky isn't starting for Jamaica, turned it on and didn't see him on the pitch

meanwhile De Maria scores a worldie for the Argies, Messi stayed in Europe.

Brereton-Diaz with the equalizer about 20 minutes in

1-1 as it stands..

Livescore says he started. Just checked on hulu and saw him have a shot blocked, so he's on form.

Ben Brereton's scored for Chile. Nice header looped over Argie keeper, Martinez.

Jamaica down to 10 men, so a little extra work for Michail to do. Just what he needs.

could be mate..no telling..

:crylol:

beeb doesn't show the starting line ups and it's well out of time for the scores.

showed Ecuador v Brasil at 21.00 (think it was) makes it 4 pm here. watched the game beeb never updated the score.

showing Chile Argentina at 00.15 and it's half time now 2-1 to Argentina and the beeb hasn't updated the score.

showing Jamaica Mexico at 00.00 with no score updates at all.

Nice goal from Janathan David tonight. Very Antonioesque, apart from the dink. Not sure Mic has a dink in his repertoire.

Mike Antonio was in perfect shape, untill he went off to represent for the first time Jamaica in autumn...
Not sure if it is some local reggae effect but he is half as danger as he was used to be for opponents since his return...

Our old (very old!) mate Enner had a time of it for Ecuador v Brazil. Missed a couple of sitters early on, nearly decapitated by Allison’s follow through ( my aim is true?) then Raphinha had a crack at hacking his leg off, he was in proper Black Knight territory!

I couldn’t stay for the end, was it him who did/didn’t get the late pen?
