2022 Six Nations

Post by westhamgardner »

Probably the tightest it's been in years with multiple teams coming into some form.

France should win it with that squad but they have so often found a way to lose games they shouldn't.

Scotland seem convinced they've only got to turn up to beat England at the weekend. They may very well be right, given England's disjointed preparation, but that's a dangerous game to play at international level. I think France will win, Ireland second, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Wales finish 3rd.

I'm going out on a limb here, but Italy will finish bottom and any of the other 5 nations could win it.

Quite easy this predicting lark.

Just read an article in the Times, comparing Curry to Richie McCaw. Wasn’t aware Stevie Wonder was a rugby journo.

That’s just clickbait Dan.

France will win it and I think England will struggle.

Can't see anyone winning a grand slam this year. France should be strong favourites but always have a ricket in them. Wales have a year of tough fixtures and a lot of injuries. Ireland look good but have France and England away. Scotland have to deal with the tag of actually being expected to do something.

England wasted the Autumn series of 2020 and 2021 so are a year behind where they should be and will be building, plus have a shed load of injuries. An unlikely win against Scotland and an away win in Rome and the tournament could get interesting. This 6N should be more about getting the likes of Smith, Steward, Simmonds, Dombrandt, Malins etc up to speed.

Interesting stat I saw today. Marcus Smith has 120 games for Harlequins at aged 22. Jonny Sexton has 180 games for Leinster at 36.

France to win but, as they are favourites, there will be a brain fart somewhere and a grand slam seems unlikely. Lump on them to win the World Cup, though.
then, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Italy.

I think they're right. It feels like it's their's to lose rather than England's to win. We'll see.

France obviously favourites. Wales 2nd, Scotch 3rd, Ireland 4th, England 5th. Italy bottom with nil points as usual.

I think we'll beat Italy in Rome and Ireland at Twickenham but lose to Wales at home and lose to France.

The French will f*** up somewhere so wont get a slam, but will beat Wales.

It was Eddie Jones who said that:

"Captaincy is not about the number of caps, it's about the person who can lead a group of players by example. There is no better player in our squad than Tom to do that. He reminds me of a young Richie McCaw. It's all about getting the team on the front foot. That goes in line with how we want to play the game."

Just over the hour mark, and Ireland lead Wales 29 - 0. Ireland playing some.pretty good stuff, but some of that is because Wales aren't offering much opposition.

Ireland and France to battle it out to finish top, Scotland and England to battle it out for third and Wales and Italy to battle it out to avoid the wooden spoon.

I think we’ll lose a close game, Scotland will probably be in the lead for 60 minutes or so.

10-17 now - Scotland discipline unnecessarily poor today, throwing away some obvious advantage in attack. Will need to be a lot tidier in this last 20 if they want to win.

Deliberate knock on. Not much else he could do there TBH, but a big big mistake. Scotland to win by 13 now.
