Not very pacey but his ability to arrive in the box unmarked at the right time is impressive. Finishes like a striker. Have a feeling he'd do well for us. Nolan would love coaching him.
He has that Martin Peters knack of ghosting into the box by perfectly timing his runs. You can't coach that, it's just intelligence. I want us to sign him

Didn't Barca get him for free in January? Not a bad profit after 7 months.

Why would Broja come to us now to sit on the bench?

But, but no one has talks with other clubs. Why don't Chelsea just put in a bid like other clubs do. Clearly a smokescreen. Watch them agree a fee and then pull out over wages again. So predictable.

Yep joint Barcelona on a free after agreeing to leave Arsenal by mutual consent. Did a job for them too with 11 goals in 18 games.

If we have a good season we can't (shouldn't) expect Scamacca to play 60 games...

Scamacca and Broja as strikers and Antonio providing cover for the RW might be better than Antonio being the second striker and trying to find another RW...

Cornet and Benny for the Left

Bowen and Antonio for the Right

Scamacca and Broja for the Centre

That is one hell of an upgrade on last season

nolan can show him his goal celebration !

I wonder how much we have left ? emerson would be 15m and vanaken around the same I guess so 30m plus diop money 15m
cant see us buying a maddison type for 40-50m although tielemans is around the 30m mark ?

intriguing last few weeks of the season ahead. I will be happy if we have signed 3 more at LB CM RW

hoping for a big one though !

Georgee Paris wrote: Thu Aug 18, 2022 7:57 am I think all the players we have signed are very boring safety first, no frills, standard, average, mid table type players. Hopefully we can get a player in that might raise a bit of excitement. Get the fans off their arses. I fear we have not enough flair and will be relying on Lanzini and Benrahma when not pressuring and containing the opposition and they were only just good enough last season so at the moment we have not progressed with being able to unlock tight defences.
I think that's quite harsh on our recruitment.

Ok I appreciate we haven't signed a play maker but by all accounts Scamacca is a very interesting player and the sort of player who has an unusual skill set to get you off of your feet. Cornet again whilst not a play maker has some much need pace to add to our attack and is quite direct in his play which is generally quite exciting.

Elsewhere I guess a goalie will never be exciting, whilst neither will most defenders but from what I've heard about Aguerd and Kahrer they are exactly the sort of defenders we've been crying out for. Both are comfortable on the ball and have pace, which will help us play a higher line meaning less of a sometimes boring low block.

That leaves Downes who I'd say is an exciting signing for different reasons. Any young player who is a life long West Ham fan is 'exciting' in my opinion, he also had some of the best passing stats in the football league last season. I really hope he's someone who can push Soucek as a result.

If we have a starting line up with adds Kehrer, Aguerd, Downes, Cornet and Scamacca at the expense of Coufal, Dawson, Soucek, Lanzini and Antonio I'd expect our passing to be significantly improved, as well as the pace in the team. For me that's quite exciting. We've also got read of every player who was too old (Noble) or not good enough/not rated by Moyes (Diop, Vlasic, Yarmolenko, Fredricks and Vlasic).

Yes we still need a left back and ideally another attacking midfielder, but given how much we left ourselves to do this window we've done very well so far. I struggle to see how any West Ham fan can be too negative (left back withstanding) about this window. Any fan of another team would think we were mad to be moaning after the investment we've made and they'd have a valid point.

Brugge really won't want to sell Vanaken - they've apparently built their entire team around him. If we want him then we'll have to overpay.

Having a pop at him because he's a **** owner is fair game, taking the piss because he's dyslexic - is bad darts, whomever it's directed at.

Other areas in our squad currently need more attention but would be a major upgrade on what we have and for under £10m. Coufal's form has fallen off a cliff so if this enabled us to move him on that wouldn't be the worst outcome.

Puff, this is a great comparison. Vanaken also takes set pieces
