Atleast 2 wingbacks and a couple of CBs short imo.
Of course we have players that "can do a job", but we don't have the foundations to be top 6 with that formation.
Good wingbacks are vital. Spurs did OK with it but even they bought another 2.

Even Coufal who looks like the one most able to do it gets caught upfield and not really got the pace to get back.

If we wanted wingbacks surely Hickey was one to go for.

Despite playing 3 or 4 at the back we need 2 CB, depending on Ognonna's fitness levels

CM to cover or change things about a bit.

LB ever since Cresswells injury and we got Arfur.

AM with pace

CF , I don't think Antonio can be relied upon this season

Scarily reminiscent to some of our antics prior to Moyes when Sullivan ran the transfer roost.

I'm starting to think that Moyes has been too ambitious. He has shifted 6 out possibly 8 by the end of the week and replacing them with foreign players or Championship.

He has done the easy bit. If he ****'s this up it's Newmans arse on the line.
Moyesys cock up. Newmans arse. Pardon?

Agree with all of this.
The Antonio decision might come after the ECL qualifying.

Chelsea have moved Werner on it seems so surely they are spending on a CF. Havertz is gonna be top drawer I think but more in the Thomas Muller type. Not really a CF and will play all over. Maybe Broja will get another loan.

Spot on.

I personally would just love to see a two up top of Scamacca & Broja...

If the rumors of Benrahma and Vlasic are looking to be sold — surely we'll buy another AM and before we still were looking for a CM. Just feel like we put everything off to the last minute...

Sounds like the ideal CB. A slab of iron with a nice touch.
Didn't seem to play much last season, is he actually good?
We will get the Brazillian iron and the Serbian touch though :scarfer:

Koopmeiners is the quality player amongst the dozens we have been linked with today. Creative (not attacking) 6ft+ left footed centre midfielder.

He will be Frankie De Jong's midfield partner in the Dutch team that has a real chance of winning the World Cup.

Selling Diop for £13m to £17m is a result, my only concern is that we are going to replace him for similar money with a similar standard player but the new player will be on a 4 to 5 year contract. Szalai is probably the only exception in terms of quality. The rest appear to be a list of reserves and injury prone freebies. We might as well have kept Diop for another season or two or sign a Rob Dickie style Championship player.

I had Moyes down as a person/manager who had the squad well organised in terms of players fitting into the required roles, but we seem to be short in a lot of areas still. Surprised we have got to the start of season in this situation. I wonder if somebody is interfering :chin:
Whatever is going on behind the scenes, I guess we will never know, but all doesn’t seen well in terms of player recruitment.

Koopmeiners and Szalai would make a big difference, suspect Kehrer will meander down the Kostic path, wait for better offers, think about a Bosman….. we need someone in for Sunday!
Time is staring to slip away, as will games, not sure what the qualifying period is for the Europa qualifiers but allowing it seems to be a minimum 3 days from getting some sort of agreement to signing with travel, medical, registration process etc we need someone in tomorrow, Wednesday latest to be sorted by Friday lunch and available for Forest.
And I’m starting to think Moyes is the only one not seeing a left back as a priority ?

Dear mods

Can we have two transfer threads please? The positivity one that just mentions players we are linked with and discusses wether they would or would not fit at WHUFC but also doesn’t advocating binning off players and manger after one game against the best club side in the world. A thread that acknowledges that the world of multi million dollar deals involves multiple personalities both genuine and nefarious and is a complicated affair that requires patience and isn’t akin to buying a nut shaver on Amazon.

Then a negative one where all the doom mongers can fill their boots and slag off everything and everyone at West Ham because we haven't managed to spunk millions on some previously unknown French African powerhouse that no one had heard of before some journo on Twitter mentions there’s a scintilla of interest. And of yeah it only happens to us…, Just pay the F…ing money. Another day gone and no signings yada yada yada… Rinse, repeat
