Dennis for a modest fee coming in with a nunez broja toney or Watkins would be good. 24 years and scoring in the PL
I wonder how Darwin Nunez feels that he's constantly bundled in with Broja, Toney and Watkins...

Man City being linked to Calvin Philips now. Guess that puts him out of the picture for us.

only been at Barca a year but I bet they'd ask 30M* plus. he ain't coming cheap, they need the money. my guess is playing there, he'd be on a pretty fair pay check as well. and hope that we play him centrally. I think that he's always played pretty much wide for whichever team he's played for.

transfermarkt has him at 45M Euros (no idea what that is in pounds, shillings and pence !! :crylol: )

they also have him at LW.

39 in 77 for the national which is pretty bloody good..thought I wasn't imagining it, seems to have played more at LW for the Cloggies.
Memphis (he wants to be called this way, daddy issues it seems) mainly played as a wide attacker (I learned something yesterday) on the left side most of his career. But he had his best years here, in Lyon, when playing centrally.

The thing is that he was not providing enough hard work defensively. We played with very offensive minded LBs at the time (Ferland Mendy, now Real Madrid, for instance) and it made us very weak on this side once the ball was lost. On top of that, his link up play with the LB was below par and we were wasting a lot of opportunities a simpler passing game would have created. He tended to carry the ball way too much, relying on his dribbling abilities to create the danger. When it worked, it was YouTube material. But most of the time, it didn't, leaving us very frustrated.

Don't get me wrong, he is a superior talent. He can create opportunities out of nothing. Great vision too, not afraid to dish the ball to a better positioned partner in the box. But he needs to be the go to guy to express his talent. This is, imo, the major limitation for him to succeed in a top flight club. He is good, but not enough to make him the key player of such teams. Even in Lyon, he needed to wait his final year, with no Europe, to be the patented star. Only then he became undisputed among the fans.

It also had a lot to do with him being played centrally. He really did well there, being actually surprisingly good at putting pressure on the defense, fighting for the ball even in the air and being the anchorman (is it a correct way to say it? If not, I hope it is understandable) of all of our attacks. He was helped a lot by Toko Ekambi on the left side.

When it comes to his current wages, they are reportedly slightly lower than what he had in Lyon (around 78m weekly, in pounds) . He really wanted to join Barca. This should not be a problem for WHU.

I am not 100% convinced it would be a good fit for you. He sure is better than most of your current attackers, but he needs a special display to perform. On the paper, it would make a hell of a threat with Bowen on the right and Memphis on the left. But would the latter accept to share stardom in WHU and match the Moyes work ethic? I don't know.

Alese appears to to be rated by Moyes. Despite our centre half injury crises he didn't play a single minute in the Premier League. This despite him being captain of our outstanding U23 team. He is now 21 and a current England U20 International. Most importantly he is left footed. Apparently we are scouring the world for a left footed centre back.

The welsh press are reporting that Cardiff City want Alese on a season long loan, but this has been rejected by us as we only want to sell.

Clearly Moyes doesn't rate him or, despite the soundbites, is too cautious to promote from the Academy. Masuaku over Longelo last season during Cresswells injury last season was a mind blowing mystery.

I'm surprised as Alese has always impressed me when I watched him, I'm guessing it's his aerial ability. Despite his bio saying that his 7'10" or some such height, he clearly isn't. I was surprised he wasn't given a game at left back, again ahead of Masuaku who could be the worst left back I've seen play for us. Tommy McQueen runs him close.

Supposedly Gundogan wants to leave, so City will surely be in the market for a central midfielders, especially with Fernandinho moving on/retiring.

Obviously there are scales to it in terms of quality, but City have a smaller squad than us, they've only got something like 22 overage players, and one of those has been out for most of the season due to being in custody.

Can certainly see them making a move for at least one high quality central midfielder, a left back, and possibly a centre back during the summer now they've sorted out Haaland.

Probably not that bothered given that he is a successful footballer and earns a decent wedge.

I reckon he is busy spending thousands on nice threads and getting his dinkle played with by a super model so doubt he's upset.

Anyone have a player they think is certain to rock up at West Ham this summer?

I think Lewis-Potter is absolutely nailed on to join us.

The key word there being linked. Linked can usually be substituted with ‘made up bollox’

You can add Johnstone to make my list four.

Elsewhere,

Newcastle United are considering a £40m deal for Dean Henderson. Sources believe it is likelier Henderson will leave on loan as he is contracted until 2025 and on £110,000-per-week #mulive [@samuelluckhurst]

Bonkers.

I don’t think he starts for them and joins a bench of Ake, Grealish, Sterling and another bunch of reserve players that would probably finish top ten in the prem in their own right.

City rotate quite often, plenty of game time for their main three centre backs and central midfielders, Sterling seems to start half and be on the bench half the time too. Weirdly considering the money spent they completely lack depth in some areas, they have Cancelo and Walker covering both fullback spots, and three central midfielders.

No central striker, an abundance of attacking midfield options though. De Bruyne, Sterling, Grealish, Jesus, Mahrez, Sterling, Foden and Silva, no wonder poor Zinchenko is covering left back.

That being said, as much as I rate Phillips he isn't near the quality they'll want long term, he'll end up like Johnson, Sinclair, Bony, Ake and the like, flavour of the month signings who sit on the bench and are eventually sold back down the league.

begs the question as to how its a competitive league ? there should be a spending cap. 100m max a season!

early arrivals at WHU KLP 20m, areola 11m, aguerd 15m, dennis 15m

I so want to see a younger decent Left back turn up early doors. This will improve both defence and midfield !

Let’s not be too hasty in ruling out Alese being 8ft high
