Chelsea like their ageing Arsenal strikers don’t they!?

To be fair, Giroud turned out to be a good signing for them.

Good point, but apparently the player wants the move. Given his age and service to Brugge they may be sympathetic to his desire to have a last go at the big time.

He would be a great addition to our squad.

Does he fit into our starting 11?

The fact we are trying to sign him, and have previously tried to sign him, would suggest that Moyes likes him, and as such would find a place for him the first 11.

Bissaka has the same skill set as Johnson though… they are better defenders and lack ability in the final third.

Man U defo overplayed… Crystal Palace have done well out of them with zaha and now bissaka

Timon of Athens

"Timon lavishes his wealth on parasitic companions until he is poor and rejected by them. He rejects mankind and goes to live in a cave." Sounds like he could be another Marco Boogers :crylol:
This Tymon is from Hull, a city which other than being a port has little in common with Athens. Although now you mention it; cave dwelling, troglodytes and parasites ...

He's most prolific in areas Scamacca and Soucek score their goals. It just makes no sense.

We need quick players next to Scamacca or we'll get another Haller situation, where the big man upfront, who lacks mobility gets isolated quickly.

Hull is a city of culture. It has a pencil museum.

Amazing how many good players come through at Hull.

Doesn't that suggest he is cover for when they are not available/out of form?

Looks like a squad option to me.

That's the second time you've labelled Scamacca as a player lacking mobility.

To me he is nothing like Haller, and certainly doesn't lack mobility.

More than anything I think we need a Zielinksi type player as our #10 but I think both Fornals and Benrahma could both flourish there.

So it wouldn't hurt having a player like Vanaken, to offer something different in that regard.

Not unless he takes Fornals spot

However, I keep stressing we need a decent squad and different options.

We could play 60 games if we have a good season so I'd say there is plenty of game time for all and plenty of games that require a different approach/experience

From everything I've seen (and that's a mere matter of minutes on Youtube) and heard, it seems as though Vanaken would be someone that plays instead of Soucek. Having the whole SVS on the pitch would only happen in desperation times.

Soucek Rice
Fornals

Rice
Vanaken Fornals

The former for when we're expecting to do more defending, the latter for when we expect to have more of the ball.

15m Minimum plus a long contract for a 30-year-old squad option?

There was a moment in the Forest match where Scamacca nodded the ball down in their box, but no one was there to follow up.

Exactly the sort of opportunity Vanaken would thrive on.

That all depends on how much Fornals is rated as a number 10 (as I suspect that's how Vanaken will be played - not as a Soucek replacement)

As it's Moyes that's signing him.... would Tim Cahill be a fair comparison?

Absolutely right.

The more options we have the better, even if they seem less glamorous than others.

The closet thing we had to a 'Plan B' last season was to bring a crocked Yarmo off the bench.

Variety is spice of life innit.

I didn't think Vanaken was what we needed either, but I'm sort of more for it now. For someone of his size he's pretty good on the ball and doesn't look like he's a bad passer at all. His goal record is ridiculous and he's the sort of player Moyes seems to use perfectly. He's played a lot for Belgium recently also considering all the attacking talent they have.

I can't understand the reasoning for suggesting Scammaca lacks mobility. Nothing from him in our shirt or for Sassuolo suggests that's the case.
