So if Ashby has told the club he is leaving and has no intention of signing a new deal we should play him anyway? What's the point?
Obviously if it's a wages issue or something else that we can negotiate then we should still be using him.
It's contextual.

Moyes seems impressed with Kehrer
“Amazingly I already see Thilo Kehrer stepping up in the dressing room, big personality, big voice.
“I said about players taking time to adapt, and it may sound like a manager’s excuse, but I actually think he has adapted really well. He has had a couple of moments but you would have to say he has come in and played well and showed in the dressing room he has a voice and trying to help the players.”

Yes, but I also don't want players who don't want to play for us involved in the matchday squad.
If Ashby has made it clear he has no intention of signing a new deal then I'd drop him. I want him to sign a new deal and think he should be involved, ball is in his court.

Not at all. I might have been the first to rate the window on here and I stand by my comments on 1/10. It’s been a shambles, far too scattergun, and how many players have actually improved the team? At the moment I see 1 who has played more than 45 minutes and that’s Kehrer. It’s early I know but that’s all we’ve got to judge on. Squad is stronger though, hence the 1/10 before Paqueta signed.steveyrockstar wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 10:55 pm Pffft, just being controversial for the sake of it.

1/10? Really? I could understand a dissapointed 3, 4 or 5/10, but 1/10 seems a bit self indulgently gloomy to me and looking to make a point rather than a reasoned analysis. That's fair enough as an 'opinion' but a bit silly (IMO) as an appraisal.carnage wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 11:48 am Not at all. If this window could’ve been a 1/10 I’d like to know what signing no one and selling rice would’ve been

Be interested to know what last Summers window got based on that. -7 comes to mind probably or is that the other end of going up to 11.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
We all know you're comparing Apples and Oranges now.
Ashby is out of contract in July, we gain nothing from having him on our bench or him starting games as the only gains are long term that we won't see.
Rice is arguably our best player, has three years left on his contract.
Again it comes down to the context that we don't know, if Ashby has made it clear he has every intention of running down his contract and leaving in July then he should not be involved with the squad. His squad place should be taken by the next youth player in line.

Is there a number low enough? Not sure the mathematical basis upon which the Universe exists could cope. Though I dare say Sullivan would find a way.Hammer Matty wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 12:30 pm If this window could’ve been a 1/10 I’d like to know what signing no one and selling rice would’ve been

Spinal Tap's guitar amps go up to 11. Carnage's amps go up to 2.

If he didn't have any intention of signing a new contract then surely we would have sold him to Newcastle but as you say we are all guessing here.Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 12:50 pm We all know you're comparing Apples and Oranges now.

We did, in both Downes and Paqueta. And Coventry as 5th choice.

I don't know how compensation works these days but if we think we'll get more at Tribunal than the fee we offered it makes sense.
It did seem to very randomly fall apart. I'm hopeful he'll sign a new deal.

He has great energy - he's made a couple of mistakes but he's still positive. Reckon he could be one of the emerging leaders.Aceface wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 11:44 am Moyes seems impressed with Kehrer
