Re: Neighbours
Sadly Korea is right. Not knocking anyone individually, similar things come out of my mouth too. I had a rude awakening after trying to explain to my 10 year old daughter what to expect from boys in the years from age 12 to 25.....trying to explain what I try to pass of as male human nature and its similarities to being a vile sex pest was a tricky path to navigate.
On topic, Neighbours was a great part of every teenagers life 30 years ago. The fact its demise is solely because Uk audiences don't watch any more says it all really.

Re: Neighbours
Final episode tonight.
A shame as missus and youngest enjoy a nice 25 minutes bonding time every weekday over an episode.
Channel 5 are replacing it with Cash in the attic with Kammy...
What a lame cheap arse uninspired outfit they are.

Re: Neighbours
My Missus has been borderline bereaved for about six months.
Doesn't give much of a toss about anything they bang on about on News at 10 or whatever, the end of Neighbours is a life changing event.
A million people still watch it which is probably more than 95% of the stuff that fills up the TV schedule.
Final episode was a bit sickly but..
Have to stick to Home and Away.

I am 18 months older than Coronation Street. I can remember Ena Sharples, but I never fancied her and I don't think she collaborated with Nick Cave.

Re: Neighbours
I'm trying to think of anything else on Ch 5 we've watched in the last few years apart from Neighbours and Home and Away...
Nope.
Talking heads shows about dogs, cheapo shock docs and that's about it. Garbage.

Re: Neighbours
It's always Zoe Lyons and Stuart Maconie, gurning at the camera and giving it, "Ooh! The eighties. They were good, weren't they? Eh? The eighties? Rubik's cubes, ooh, couldn't do those. Could you, eh? Ooh. Boy George, eh? Eh? Ooh. Couldn't half sing though, eh? Ooh. Rick Astley? Hmm? Sonia? Eh? Ooh, we loved them, didn't we? Ooh! Eh? The eighties? Head boingers? Eh? Snoods? Shoulder pads? Eh? Miner's strikes? Iranian embassies? Ooh! Shake and Vac? Put the freshness back! Eh? Ooh!"
Again and again and again. And again. And again and again.
The annual budget for in-house programming at Channel 5 must be approx. £40.

Re: Neighbours
I will take it back and say that the All Creatures Great and Small remake is on there and that is pretty good. If they could do more like this then fair enough...

Re: Neighbours
Soon as it moved to CH5 it was doomed.
I, like millions of others watched it religiously in the late 80s/early 90s. Mainly because of the lack of alternatives and the time(s) of day that it was on (Lunchtime and tea time).
It produced some singers, Hollywood actors and lots of eye candy from both sexes.
Had it been cancelled back in 95, I would have been devastated. Not now. It had its time. Shame the likes of Eastenders and Corrie don't follow.

Was great IMHO
Clever editing to make it look like Guy Pearce, Kylie and Jason D were all there at the same time though!
Re: Neighbours
Like many Aussies I never watched an episode as it was nothing like real life down here. Got sick of being grilled about it on visits to the Old Dart as I had no idea what people were asking about!
Media made it out to be more popular than it was though no doubts you Brits were easily fooled

I always thought it was. Fair enough, Home and Away is pretty true to life though, innit ?Stevo44 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 1:50 am Like many Aussies I never watched an episode as it was nothing like real life down here.
