Re: England cricket 2022
No rain in Stratford right now, perhaps Lord's is in it's own Microclimate?
Also, don't Sky have their own studio that overlooks the pitch anymore? Looks like they present from a backroom cutting floor!

Re: England cricket 2022
Just check in on the score after a busy morning at work... going well isn't it.
Not watched any of the play (is it us doing our usual or is could we respond in kind with the ball?)

Very good pace attack...but we were extremely lucky to get as many on the board.

Re: England cricket 2022
Becoming a slog this for England. Sun out etc and SA will probably be level soon with the loss of only one wicket so far.

Looks like it'll be a great time to bowl again for SA if we manage to take these last two wickets

Re: England cricket 2022
Oh look...we pitch it up and get a wicket.
Why do we aim mostly at off stump to get the top order out then resort to constant bumpers at the tail? Sigh.

Root gone for 6, 57 for 3.
It was beginning to look quite stable for 20 mins after lunch, ah well....could be over tonight this one.

Re: England cricket 2022
Innings defeat looms unless a few do something special.
Nothing shot from Root. South Africa have outperformed us in all areas so far.

Re: England cricket 2022
Bazball your way out of this.
Bairstow and now Lees gone. Lees led a charmed life to get to 35.
Back to the same old brittle England getting blown away by some good bowling.
And now Foakes goes with another nothing shot.
Pathetic.

Re: England cricket 2022
I picked a good Test to miss, not seen a ball of this. Scorecard looks like a show. Can we escape an innings defeat?

The end us in sight. Leach in now. He won't do any damage he'll hang around for a bit to frustrate South Africa.
Edit, brainless from Stokes

Re: England cricket 2022
All over in 2 and half days. That was absolutely pitiful today and not much better the last 2 either.
SA have a very good pace attack but we just capitulated in front of it.
Crawley and Lees are just not good enough.

Re: England cricket 2022
I find I've become very twisted in my view of England at present. I just don't like this team or set up at all. It started with them dropping Burns in Oz and has continued with the sense that the camp has become far too matey and inward looking under Stokes.
Crawley must have photos of someone, because his selection is a joke. The thing is he'll get a 50 next test so they'll give him another 5 matches
Lees, just doesn't convince me overall.
Pope. Still not a 3 in my view. A huge amount of faith has been put in him. Today SA did what I said many pages back, put a spinner on against him, he is lost.
All the Bazeball results were reliant on Roots brilliance and Bairstow riding the wave of the purple patch he was on. I still have it as a fluke when all the stars aligned and we got away with it. I don't think Bairstow will ever replicate that form again.
Stokes has become a tit with the bat. In some leadership Bazeball role he now charges down the wicket once every over to set the tone. It just looks village and he will keep getting out playing like this.
We are still obsessed with the short ball to tailenders. It's like we think we have invented a wheel that is better than all the old ones, apart from the fact it is square.
If we went back to Oz next week with this team and approach I'd wager a large amount we'd get battered again. We have learned nothing and are kidding ourselves things are moving to solutions.
