Not certain I want our batsmen at the crease today if I’m honest and would prefer tomorrow morning! Swinging all over the place, Robinson to Zondo was an absolute beauty.

One thing is for sure, following this England side is entertaining!

Yeah - there is a whole day left we don't need to win it tonight by attempting to score at T20 run rates...let's see.

Fair play to them. Win some, lose some. Not so sure we can do this over in Pakistan but will be interesting to say the least.

But for some cloud cover test would have been all over in 2 days.

Thought SA were going to make a game of it when.thwy were 70 for 1 but once again we skittled them out with some great bowling.

Broad passes Mcgrath to take the number 2 spot for test wickets for a seamer behind Anderson.

Imagine how many more wickets he would have if all those reviews hadn't gone against him 😂

6 out of 7 wins is not a bad return considering the winter that preceded it.

This next winter will be a different ball game though. Loads of T20 in Pakistan, then the T20 WC, an ODI series down under, back to Pakistan for Test matches then off to NZ for a couple of Tests. :shocker:

Was that the shortest day's cricket ever? What was it, 25/30 minutes?

Is Gower back on sky sport's comms team today? Great news if so! Comms has been so so boring this summer.

23 wickets gone down so far today at Chelmsford. Pitch inspectors will be busy. Lancs 2-3 in their second innings.

Make that 24 2-4 now.

Now make that 7-6.

How shocking must that pitch be? Wonder if Essex will get a points deduction. Read a few months back that they had been given a warning over the poor state of the Pitch at Chelmsford.

Has a county match ever been done and dusted on the very first day? This one could well be at this rate.

I’m worried about the run chase. They need 32 as it stands

Decent start for England in ODI - Sky lot seem to think you’ve got to get off to a good start on this pitch.

Can see the headline now...

"Essex chasing just 50 to win on day 1 v Lancashire, lose"

Just caught up on England innings, nice win to start the tour, good from Hales and Brook looks like the class act we think he is. 3 more games on this pitch, hope they have some better wickets up their sleeve.

As for Gower he is there as it is a Pakistani production not a Sky one so maybe we won't see him in the Summer.

I am no expert on pitches but I just watched the 5 min highlights to see how bad it was, and a lot of poor shots to be honest. Not a case of the ball keeping low or rearing up, lots of LBWs, a couple of guys leaving deliveries that hit the stumps. Yes there was movement but it's late Sept!

Personally I think it's a malaise of English cricket that players can't defend or dig in, think England collapses, it was one of those on repeat.

23 wickets at Southampton as well. Playing cricket in late September is madness.

No, playing country cricket (which we don’t care about) in late September is fiscally beneficial (said the ECB)

So Essex need 98 to win. Lances complete 2 innings with their highest score of 24 (twice.) I wonder if that is some kind of County record. Cook for 40 for Essex first innings.
