Re: England cricket 2022
They have to see Boult off, NZ only have 4 bowlers, get through his and Southee's initial spell and then England can make inroads.

Re: England cricket 2022
Bit knee-jerk. if everyone wants England to play in an aggressive, attacking manner then things like this will happen. Still moving in the right direction for me.Bend it like Repka wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 2:41 pm Time for Crawley to go. Pope's ton will falsely keep him in the side all summer.
Everybody thought England were great again.

Normal service is resumed. 42-4?
Edit: Make that 55-5. Barring a miracle this game's gone in the space of an hour.

Re: England cricket 2022
Bloody stupid from Stokes, yes be positive but don't be reckless at 50-4 with a 1st innings of 300+
55-6 now --sigh. We'll be following on tonight at this rate.

Third time he's thrown his wicket away this series. But that's the way he plays...

There's a time to swing the bat and a time to steady the ship.
Woeful today.

Well we're halfway there with Overton and Bairstow...Up the Junction wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 2:49 pm Barring a miracle this game's gone in the space of an hour.

Jamie's got better technique than half the top order. And no rash gung-ho shots either.

Well done Bairstow, never been a fan but again he has come to England's rescue with a measured, powerful innings.
Hopefully Overton can follow in what would be (some how) just his 2nd first class ton.

Re: England cricket 2022
A great (and very much needed) partnership between Overton and Bairstow. Overton looking accomplished with the bat and a great debut, as for Bairstow, another excellent knock - proving that he is a test player.

By everyone do you mean T20 fans?SoulCircus wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 2:43 pm Bit knee-jerk. if everyone wants England to play in an aggressive, attacking manner then things like this will happen. Still moving in the right direction for me.
We are not moving in the right direction, we are creating false hope that will bite us in the butt. 50 for 6 is a disgrace. Bairstwo and Overton have papered over the cracks, this innings's errors will be forgotten until the next collapse.
Crawley cannot put away the drive.
Popes techinque is flawed. He will fail over and over
Stokes now thinks he can hit ever ball for 6
They are not playing test cricket. India and Oz will flatten us again. We are learning nothing, just repeating the same mistakes.
Oh and still endless short pitched bowling to tail enders...

Re: England cricket 2022
The bowling naivety I agree with. The rest, I'm not so sure.
This seems to be a completely counter intuitive approach to test cricket. If they pull this test around, they've beaten a quality side 3-0. TBH, I reckon India/Aussies/whoever might be a tad more alarmed than they were a few months back
Let's be honest, on the world stage, test cricket is blowing out it's a*se (check out the crowds), and most cricket, like it or not, is limited overs stuff, this might change now. I'm pretty sure other teams might even copy this.
