Re: England cricket 2022
I can actually see Morgan being there as Captain and in the squad but not necessarily playing every game.
With Bairstow, Root and Stokes to come back into the side, it's difficult to make a case for him right now in either of the white-ball sides. Having said that - he's earned the right to walk away whenever he sees fit. I imagine he will do that when his lack of runs starts to impact the sides results.

It'll just be a shame to see the top talent who will miss out. Livingstone I'm guessing

Haven't seen something like this since the days of park cricket with a tennis ball!

Third Test this morning. NZ win toss and chose to bat. Debut for Jamie Overton.
Broad strikes first over, he loves a lefty. Pitch looks flat but it is a funny colour, some early movement, misbehaviour? If so need to exploit, I expect this to be flat under the sun (watch both teams score less than 200 now!)

Re: England cricket 2022
Jack Leach gets a wicket first ball, could this be the moment he finally comes to the party this summer? Great start and top call from Stokes to throw him in so early.
Three down at lunch I’ll take that, good effort from England. Broads second was nicely done set him up with in swingers and then got one to hold the line, Jimmy would be proud.

What a bizzare wicket -- England bag a very fortunate 5th wicket. The level of (bad) luck required to make that work is unreal.
123-5 at tea, we needed that.

Only thing more bizarre than the Nicholls dismissal was the non-review against Mitchell for a stone-dead LBW. Baffling.

Our failure to take routine catches (at International level) is more of problem.

Re: England cricket 2022
England spend an hour trying to get the ball changed, eventually they do and two balls later a wicket. Was it the ball or was it Broad just getting on with it instead of moaning.

And then after getting it changed we proceed to bowl short and get hammered all over the park.

Re: England cricket 2022
We have some real mental problem when we get 5 down, we bowl like muppets over and over again to the lower middle order and turn people with a Test average in the low 20s-teens in to Bradman. Well we uncharacteristically finished them off quickly (with some help from NZ) 5fer for Jack (first on these shores.) 329 it is, not bad on a flat wicket after being asked to bowl.

You'd call it gamesmanship if you were being kind. You could see Broad banging the ball into the pitch to try and change the shape.

Re: England cricket 2022
That Lees ball would have got most left handers, the second wasn't shabby either. I've no problem with that from either, sometimes the bowler is just 'too good'

Re: England cricket 2022
Three now, this is peak swing bowling but a very iffy shot from Crawley. Ok Stokes or Root to dig us out of a hole again? (opps forgot about Bairstow but I can't see him lasting long here against this -- prove me wrong please)
after a couple of Tests we are back to normality, some very good bowling but we have nothing 21-4 and we could be out for 50 here if it continues to swing (and the bowlers can keep going)

Re: England cricket 2022
Time for Crawley to go. Pope's ton will falsely keep him in the side all summer.
Everybody thought England were great again.
