I felt Overton was going to fail on 97. He looked nervy.

We've won a series against the world champions after 1 win in the previous 16 Tests or whatever it was. Sounds like progress to me.

Got thoroughly sunburned at Headingley on an entertaining day yesterday. A shame Overton didn’t get his ton today.

Crawley cannot put away the drive.
Popes techinque is flawed. He will fail over and over
Stokes now thinks he can hit ever ball for 6

They are not playing test cricket. India and Oz will flatten us again. We are learning nothing, just repeating the same mistakes.
We have no batsman capable of taking the shine off the ball. TBF to the top order yesterday, Boult’s bowling was near perfect but they are ready to collapse at any moment anyway.

We’ve opted to play to our strengths. It isn’t Test cricket, but we have no batsmen capable of batting that way and no system in which they will learn given how much of a joke the county game is (and they wouldn’t play in most of it anyway) so there is no alternative.

It is not like this gung ho style is seeing us exclude more capable batsmen. They just don’t exist.

Rory Burns has an openers mentality. Crawley does not.

Malan looked far better at number 3 than Pope does.

Malan is 34 and averages 27. He wasn’t worth backing. Pope is only 24 and averages 30. He is worth a proper go.

Same with Burns (32, 30) vs Crawley (24, 27).

I have my doubts about Crawley, but he has youth on his side.

Crawley needs to learn that unless it's short and wide or a rank long hop, just leave anything outside off stump. Enough with the drives in the first 5 overs.

Get the shine off the ball and see off the first pair instead of going for dreamy cover drives that you constantly nick.

Billings replaces Foakes who has Tested positive for Covid. Was his bad back a symptom, a coincidence or a lie?

Seems odd they are still even testing when everyone else (who doesn’t have a risk factor) is just getting on with it. Billings not bad to have if a run chase is needed today/tomorrow.

To get a first innings lead from where we were Friday lunchtime is nothing short of astonishing.

If the Aussies or Indians had done something similar we’d be very unhappy. NZ are such an amenable lot and the series is done so we’ll get away with it. Kohli and co wouldn’t be so quiet about it if it was next week.

Doesn’t look great to me.

Blundell and Mitchell deserve to win NZ one test this series. They've been superb.

England wicketless this morning.

You really think David Boon would let us get away with that?

So NZ collapse last five for 52,Billings unorthodox but held on. 10 for Leach, good to see

We all expect England to chase this down so all out for 150 is on the cards.

I do like the look of Potts, makes things happen.

free final day tomorrow, bet the Yorkies found that painful to announce.

These two were a run out waiting to happen. Fantastic from NZ though.

Ollie Nope and Crappy Crawley at the crease now, expectations not very high.

Feels like Crawley should already have been out half a dozen times. Just wish he’d try and play himself in ffs.

Straight to the man waiting for him.

So 4 single figure scores, a 40 and 25. In a winning team. Not good enough.
