UEL16: West Ham Utd 2-0 Sevilla (17/3/22)

Post by coxy »

Well then. Here we are.

Thought we did great today given the circumstances and top six this season will be a wonderful season. Anyway onto more pressing matters...

This might be my first ever match thread so let's hope it's a good 'un.

For me this is it. This is what the season boils down to.

60,000 at the bowl cheering the boys on.

We might not make it over the line but hell let's give them a game

COYI

P.S. let's do it for Romford :hamm:

As much as the 3 points were welcome today, these are the games that live in the memory, these are the ones we look back on and remember what that night was like.

I cannot wait for Thursday. Absolutely cannot wait.

Areola
Fredericks Dawson Zouma Johnson
Rice Soucek
Fornals Bowen Benrahma
Yarmolenko

Hopefully the sheer pace of Fredericks and work rate of Bowen catches them off guard.

Yarmolenko to score our first, Bowen to win the tie late on.

A cliche but the next goal in this tie is huge.

Fab in goal for me.

If this really is our most important match of the season, our best goalkeeper should be in goal. He certainly proved that today with that stop from Ings.

He also flapped in the 1st half when Dawson (I think) headed it away, and then didn’t come off his line in the 2nd half which really put us under the cosh.

Quite frankly neither Fabianski or Areola have been entirely convincing all season. They’ve both had good matches and shaky moments.

Agree with Sendo on starting Fab, no disrespect to Areola but we need our best keeper for this game.

Its then Dawson, Zouma, Johnson, Rice and Soucek as the only guaranteed starters.

Its then 5 from Frederick's, Cresswell, Bowen, Mickey, Vlasic, Benrahma, Lanzini, Yarmolenko and Fornals.

It's mainly all dependent on who's fit but we will definately need some creativity to break them down so would opt for both Lanzini and Benrahma.

The rest is anyones guess

Seville made a few changes for their game today. Rakitic and Delaney returned to the starting line up, rested their left back and En-Nesyri.

1-1 draw away to Vallecano, only managed 3 shots to Vallecano's 10. If that performance is anything to go by its well and truly game on for Thursday.

I think if we can get an early goal we'll frighten them and mess with their game plan.

I think highly unlikely, still can't put pressure on his foot.

Well that awful site C and H said it hasn't healed and could be out upto a fortnight, Moyes also quoted the following, so not looking great. “Since then Jarrod is slightly improving but not as fast as we hoped. We did not think it was anything serious. So we are still trying to get to the bottom of it.

“Maybe we’ll get back and Jarrod is OK. It could just be one of those things.”
