All Antonio had to do was going down after that challenge. Would always result in a penalty. And that's not cheating at all because he's getting caught big time. It's just about being smart.

All Antonio had to do was not hit it straight into Pope’s birds nest.

If he’d shanked the shot or sliced it, he’d probably score.

As soon as Bowen put him through I said “he wont score”. His finishing has gone to ****, sadly.

All Antonio had to do was sprint from the half way line, take the ball in his stride whilst running at full tilt, and then dink it over Tarkowski's attempted sliding tackle and then put it past a 6'7" keeper from an angle that favoured the 'keeper. That's all he had to do.

Can't count the number of times I did that sort of thing as a youngster and after scoring did a complete forward roll and take the applause

Piece of piss

Shame the deflection didn't fall to Bowen again...

Exactly I mean, it's not rocket science, is it ? It's what Darwin Nunez would've done. So why couldn't he?

Also, this all happened in the 88th minute of the game, after having played 85 mins in France a few days before.

His goals drought also had a bearing at that moment. Strikers in a rich vein of form put those away, whatever their price tag
Kane didn't score a goal at the start of this season until until Oct 17th.
Its true strikers in a rich vein of form scuff shots and they go in. But form effects every player, no matter how good, Antonio will come right as Kane did.

Pope has made two top class saves (Bowen first half, Diop second) and he stood Antonio up well at the end too.

Bowen was very unlucky not to get something on the Cresswell effort first half also, if he touches it, it's in.

Antonio has to score at the end, no denying that, he will be gutted. Yes it was a strong run to even get there at that stage of the game (even more so considering the week he has had and shift he put in Thursday), yes he did well to avoid the half hearted challenge from Tarkowski, yes Pope stands him up well... but he still has to roll that in.

On another day that is easily 3-1 or 4-1 to us.

So run in a straight line past a defender that is slower than him, then shoot.

He did the hard bit, but snatched at the finish.

I'm not trying to dig the bloke out, but he's in a funk at the moment and does this constantly.

Antonio has always been a hit-and-hope type finisher. If he was clinical like Thierry Henry he'd be playing for Real Madrid.

I thought that but when you look back at it Tarkowski ends up pulling out of the tackle.
