I fully expect us to win this. But......I also expect Man United to win at Palace. So I think it's the Conference for us.

A lot depends on palace’s result in the week. They could finish 8th as it stands. They will want to be above Brighton as well.

Funny enough I think the opposite. I think we’ll both lose.

Brighton are the Premier League equivalent of Eintracht Frankfurt. We’ll huff and puff and they’ll target our weaknesses at the back. Even their home form is fairly similar to Frankfurt’s!

Their home form is awful. 17th in the table.

Frankfurt's league form is bad, unbeaten in Europe.

18 home league games for Brighton. 4 wins, 7 draws and 7 losses.

17 home league games for Frankfurt. 4 wins, 7 draws and 6 defeats.

Almost identical.

The reason I was always pretty confident we’d get something from the Man City game is because their style of play suit us more. Strange thing to say for a team as good as Man City, but it’s true. We sit back and can hit them on the counter. As we did in the games against the 2 teams below them in the table. Brighton, like Frankfurt won’t do that. We’ve struggled against those type of teams all season. See Brentford, Burnley etc. Those teams have our number.

Bloody annoying to think we lost at home to Leeds, Brentford and Southampton. 🤨
Still, it's always 'if's' and 'but's' for everyone at the end of the season.

And in a league match with Frankfurt we'd probably win. They're unbeaten in Europe though.

Brighton are naff, if we think we're good enough for 6th we need to be beating sides like Brighton, especially when their home for is abject.

I put Welbeck in my fantasy team to stop him from scoring next week.

So you don’t think Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd deserve to be in the top 6 then? As none of them could beat Brighton at the Amex this season.

At least Glenn Murray isn’t playing for them any more!

Before the Man Utd win their home results were draws to Southampton and Norwich and defeats to Tottenham, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Burnley.

The Chelsea draw was in January and the Arsenal result even longer ago.

On their current form it's a must win for a team wanting to be top 6. They're poor.

They've won one game at home this calendar year. One.

Does today's point mean we will finish higher if Man Utd draw and we win?

Yes.

If we win Man Utd need to win to keep us out of 6th.

The Norwich and arguably the Aston Villa results were poor results, granted. But Southampton have picked up a few big results this season. Burnley picked up a point to the Gooners and ourselves, and a win against the Spuds at home. Even narrowly losing to a dodgy penalty against the same team today. And there’s no shame losing to Liverpool and the Spuds, as much as I hate them both!

The Chelsea and the Gooners result doesn’t matter when it took place. It’s the same season.

We’ve won just 2 away league games this calendar year. 1 of those was against the team rock bottom of the Premier League.

Agreed. If we can somehow win, then we have a very good chance of clinching 6th. If not, 7th is still ours. :newthumb:

If we go hung-ho too soon we could be 2-0 down before we know it. I don’t see Moyes changing tactics. He’ll look to keep us tight and tough to break down & then try to hit them on the break.
