Vangelis RIP

Post by Chicken Run Supreme »

Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou , or Vangelis as he was more commonly known, has passed away at the age of 79.

A great musician who will forever be linked to two of the greatest film scores in Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner. Neither film would have had the same level of success without those iconic scores.
I also had a soft spot for his duet with Jon Anderson, I’ll Find My Way Home. Apparently Vangelis had previously turned down the opportunity to replace Rick Wakeman in Yes.

A great talent,

RIP Vangelis

Superb musician.
Bit of Greek 'prog' from the one of his earlier bands, Aphrodite's Child

I think this was on Chart Hits 81, which I got for Christmas one year - great stuff.

Wasn't 'State of Independence', covered by Donna Summer, a Jon & Vangelis song?

I never realised he was as old as that, because I seldom come across anybody older than me. That is good to know. Vangelis, :newthumb:
