Imo he's been showing some very odd characteristics lately and if you remember (not sure if it was just before or just after his red card against Lyon) he was a very lucky boy not to get a red for kicking the ball very hard at a grounded opponent.

Both his red cards were , at least imo, the result of a player who had switched off. An experienced pro must know that you don't give the referee an opportunity to make a decision.
I just think Cress himself knows his legs have gone, and despite his experience at top level there’s no covering that, sometimes leading to situations where he either panics, or hopes to get away with a grab. Frankly he’s got away with a few this year, sadly not in the Europa. He’s been a great servant, but never really the same since the knee injury and certainly not after hurting his back at Citeh. It’s symptomatic of our lack of planning, these days full backs are critical, but we’d rather mess about on endless winger transfers or attempts to find a cut price striking superstar, Cress should have been replaced 2 years ago.

Seems its just an English attitude/arrogance to belittle this tournament. Can see how much it means to Roma tonight

The tournament has certainly gained a lot of legitimacy tonight by having the inaugural trophy won by a club and manager of the stature of Roma and Mourinho.

Now let’s become the second club to win it.

Thought the same. Seeing the players reactions at full time certainly helped as well.

5/5 wins in a European final for Jose, that’s some record.

In all honesty, I think Italy is now the perfect place for him. The game is a bit more slower and tactical which suits him.

let's not bother with this tin pot EUROPEAN TROPHY cause it isn't worth our while and concentrate on the coming 7th in the league so we can qualify for...

Tbf I dont think anyone would sacrifice doing well in the Confdrnce League in order to come 7th again

Some peoppe might want us to take it less seriously for the objective of coming 4th though

Winning Confernce League or 4th? I would take 4th.

The negative connotations over here are heavily in the word Conference, imo.

If it was called the the Europa Federation League or Europa International League it would lose some of the negativity.

First final between Roma and Feyenoord - both grand old names and big city clubs in european football.

As I'm sure anyone else would. But realistically we are more likely to win the Conference Trophy than we are to finish 4th are we not ? I think the only way we are likely to challenge seriously for a Champions League spot is by qualifying for the Europa League again and next time winning the bloody thing.

A serious top 4 challenge will require a massive cash injection and I don't think that is ever going to happen.

Why?
I would take FA Cup over 4th and maybe even Leagye Cup

However, coming 4th and qualifying for Champions league could be an absolute game changer for us and thus put us in a position to win more trophies in the future

Which is why I would take 4th over the Conference League!

I am not saying we should sacrifice Conferebce League btw. We are in it so should do all we can to win it

Winning Conference league for me, and I think this is the problem with football in general now.

Those top 4 places are so coveted that people are losing sight of actually winning a trophy. We'd get smashed in the champions league, would much rather have a trophy to show.

Each to their own but winning a trophy (incl. Conference League) for me would top coming 4th and getting knocked out the group stage of CL.

In fact it would mean everything to me just to win a fkin trophy!
