Re: Europa Conference League 22-23
We need to win the Conference League. We desperately need more European football next season. It may be the lower echelon competitions but it gets West Ham United on the first rung of the gravy train.
Consistent qualification for these competitions will raise our profile and may, eventually, lead to us getting a crack at the main event.
If and when that happens we may crash and burn, but you never know we may one day get to play a Real or a Barca. Now that would be worth seeing.

Still gutted Frankfurt beat Barcelona last year and we missed the chance to play Barca last year.Geoff Hurts wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 10:03 pm We need to win the Conference League. That would have been a dream for me. Barcelona V West Ham at Camp Nou would have been special.

I watched the AZ match last night. They were pretty much at full strength and coasted to a 5-0 lead by halftime against a poor Emmen side. Five different scorers and a lot of energy throughout the team. Jansen made four changes on 65 minutes, taking off certain starters on Thursday. Emmen really were dreadful, so I still see us putting the tie to bed in the AFAS Stadion, but AZ won't make it easy for us.

Absolutely dreading opening SkyScanner if we make it through on Thursday. Accommodation is all sorted already, at reasonable prices too. Expecting a healthy set back on those flights though.

So forget our game, are we saying Basel or I Viola in the final?
The clarets vs the violets?

It would, but Basel might be the slightly better opponent, in terms of chances of our winning.

As the designated Away team, we would be in the white & flaming orange kit regardless of Basel or Fiorentina

Re: Europa Conference League 22-23
It is actually the 'lava kit'... officially named by my 7 year old (thanks Minecraft).
Re: Europa Conference League 22-23
I call it the orange jpeg kit, because it looks like a blown up jpeg image when you look at it up close, like they got a picture of some sparks off of google images, took out the background and stuck it to the white kit design and called it a day.
Looking forward to tomorrow, hoping the team turns up and goes all out, and then hopefully I get lucky and get a ticket to the final.

As for any potential final Fiorentina have a very deep purple kit this season and Basel is pretty much a version of Barca, also mainly dark.
Us or AZ will be the away team so I very much doubt we'd be able to wear claret or black if we got there.
Unless we can rush out next seasons reported 'all white' away kit (not a bad marketing ploy if we could), it will most likely be the 'lava kit' if we get through.
I must admit, it feels way too risky even having these debates ahead of Thursday!!

Re: Europa Conference League 22-23
I'd imagine we will wear all black against AZ but UEFA encourage an 'all darks v all lights' approach to their showpiece games. That will most likely be why we wore claret shorts at home v Gent. So we could see AZ in all red and us in our 'Lava Kit'.

As long as we win . I couldn't care less what the team wears . Well except for a pigeon standing on a ball like a certain other side does .
