Re: Ray Liotta RIP
Sad news indeed. I had seen him on a quit smoking ad/infomercial a year or so ago and he did not look well. His performance as Henry Hill has to go down as one of the very best in the crime/noir/gangster genre. Some great other performances too - Thank you for the work Sir !

Re: Ray Liotta RIP
67 is too young. He had a great run in the 90’s, especially with Goodfellas. I saw that film again recently for the first time in a decade and found it better than I remembered. So many outstanding performances with Ray’s right at the fore. RIP

Yeah, they've just announced this on ITV early evening news. Recognised his face, but not the name. RIP anyway

“As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.”
An opening to a film I'll never forget to one of the best films ever made.
RIP Ray.

If he’s have done nothing else than Goodfellas and Field of Dreams it would have been more than enough. Two films I could never tire of. RIP Ray and thanks for the memories.

Re: Ray Liotta RIP
Just seen this , terrible news .
Only seems like yesterday when I was getting myself down to the video store to rent a copy of ' Goodfellas ' , where did all those years go ??
He seemed to make an average of around 2-3 films a year but I don't think he ever bettered that performance as Henry Hill in Goodfellas ......funnily enough I decided to take in ' Wild Hogs ' for around the 4th time a couple of weeks ago and I was just thinking I hadn't seen Ray in anything good of late -was good in Field of Dreams and his performance in ' Cop Land ' was almost up there with his Henry Hill and I remember him in ' Narc ' and some bloody awful film called ' Bad Karma ' , other than that I never caught any of his other films .
Sad news indeed .

Re: Ray Liotta RIP
Very sad. Goodfellas is one of my all time favourite films.
I also liked him in Cop Land, Smokin Aces, Identity, and Unlawful Entry.
Also, and this is one that I bet many of you haven't seen, a B movie action film called 'No Escape' - also with Lance Henriksen. I used to like that one.

One of the greatest opening lines of all time.westham, eggyandchips wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 7:53 pm “As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.”

Cop Land, Field of Dreams, Revolver and of course, Goodfellas are the pick of Ray’s cv for me.
He got to play Shoeless Joe alongside Burt Lancaster and Henry Hill alongside De Niro and Joe Pesci. That’s pretty decent.
We seem to be seeing celebrities passing away at an earlier age right now.
RIP Ray

Funnily used as instead of coincidently, I'd say, fj.fjthegrey wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 9:39 am What do you mean funnily?

Just a turn of phrase that people sometimes use.
