The only earthquake I experienced was in Tokyo in 2003. I was sitting in thr office about 13 floors up. We had a smokers balcony and the door was open. The first I noticed was the pot plant started to sway, so I though it was the breeze coming through the door. Then the tremors starters. It was a 6.1 and about 60 miles offshore in the pacific, but I did not like it one bit. Not one bit.

Not allowed in our hotel. Hotel next to us some damage.

We're in an Irish pub and the aftershocks are making the chandeliers swing.

And to make things worse, they're playing a Coldplay album.

Had one when I was laying by the pool in Turkey, it felt like someone was shaking my sunbed for a few seconds.

Thanks Mate.

Not sure how much Coldplay one person can handle all at once.

Going to try to get back to our room now. The Missus needs to pack and I need another beer.

Blimey, another one at 3.18am. Making the building sway so it was a mad rush down six flights of stairs.

Not fun after a load of booze last night then under 2 hours kip.

F*ck knows how long we'll be stuck in the street for but at least we're safe.

Apparently the 3 biggest earthquakes in Mexico happened in 1985, 2017 and 2022.

A laughable look (old now) on a more serious issue in another thread:

Reminds me pf the bit in Python's 'Holy Grail': "This new learning amazes me Sir Bedevere. Explain to me again how sheeps' bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes"

Didn't realize you were there Shabu. Must have been a little nerve wracking given the state of a lot of the buildings there. The videos I've seen have been scary. Hope all is well and that it didn't ruin your break.

Cheers.

The one in the middle of the night was a bit hairy.

We'd moved from one hotel to another nearby and the first one lost many windows. Building seemed fine though.

Last year there we had a hurricane, this year two earthquakes
