As are each and every one of those deeply moralistic journalists who'll get paid for writing and/or talking about it.
Just watched a piece on Sky Sports News from some guy who's an analyst on the Golf channel. Laid into the players who've joined the LIV tour big time. Raised some very valid points, as in the majority are nowhere near the top of the golf rankings so they are hardly the best players in the world. Said about 14 of the players who would be most recognisable have an average ranking of over 100. Also said the average age of the affomentioned 14 was 40. Whereas the the top players on the PGA have an average age of 27. Was a great listen.

He makes it sound as if they'd have difficulty winning a monthly medal. They're among the best golfers in the world.

Won't be long now.. more will follow
But they're hardly challenging the top of leaderboards at the moment, obviously Bryson has been struggling with injury, and Fowler and Reed have slipped down the rankings. As far as I can see it's only Johnson from the top 20 who has jumped ship. Be interesting to see if the likes of Scheffler, Smith, Cantlay etc decide to follow.

Not disputing that JBB. Mickelson is still one of my favourite players ever, and it's only a matter of time before Dustin gets back to his best.
I reckon more will join if another series is done.
You always get your early adopters, DJ excluded they are likely to be those who have less chance of winning on the PGA tour and at the latter end of their careers.
Next you'll get a few younger players who are prospects but don't fancy their chances of winning events so will move over.
Then once it all normalises a bit and some of the media hysteria dies off you'll get the big boys.
Just to make it on tour you are in the top 200 odd or whatever in the world. It's hard to compare golf to other sports (even individual sports like tennis), but odds are the 100th best footballer is in the first 11 for a champions league quarter finalist team, so definitely not some shank smuck who can barely hit a ball.
Some interesting perspectives on the moral situation etc, not just in the golf. I pay for Now tv too.
I honestly don't know what to think. Don't we sell arms to the Saudis?
What's the point in me moaning about Newcastle. Are murderers better than pornographers? Is it OK to make a stand for some people's rights and not others.
This is only up the road from me and was able to get a load of free tickets for today so atleast I will not be putting money in their pocket (till i find the bar). Lovely weather for it.
Away from the ethical and moral issues I find a shotgun start stupid. Can you imagine starting on the 18th at Carnoustie for instance? Or the Road Hole at St Andrews? Daft.
I watched some of it yesterday. That scoring graphic they use is virtually impossible to read. It's like the spinning wheels in a one armed bandit, constantly whizzing around to no real purpose. They need to improve the sound too. The levels are all over the place and the sound and pictures don't always match. Both 'beginner' errors and not difficult to get right.
