A Premier League and international footballer has been arrested in north London on suspicion of rape.

The 29-year-old, who has not been named, was taken into custody on Monday morning where he remains, as reported by the Telegraph.

The Metropolitan Police told BBC Sport: "On 4 July, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to police.

"It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022."

The statement added: "On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody where he remains.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."

12, great way to get around the new loan rules, work permit issues & move money around in fairness, especially with youth prospects... Just transfer willing youth/fringe players around their worldwide network for realistic fee's that all go into the communal kitty...

probably helps out fudge around the FFP practices and/or something like that

you also get a HUGE swath of young players available for movement to the big dog a bit later.

helps "brand name and merchandising" and probably after a lot of paper shifting financials, a lot cheaper than just running a pure academy in the UK which no doubt is where anyone really good will end up being funneled. and if not, flogged off someplace else for a profit that funds said academies in said countries. despite all of their worldwide investment they really only have Foden to show for it currently. Brahim Diaz 17M plus to Real who is off someplace else on loan.

didn't we play one of their "brand" teams in Iceland in a pre-season one year not too long ago ? the City group that is not Chelsea.

and City will be one step ahead of Chelsea in that when UEFA/FIFA tighten up lending players out, City won't need to. they'll already be at one of their feeder clubs or else they'll find a way to lend players out to their feeder clubs doing an end around those rules.

with that much money, you have to bet they have not only an army, but an army, air force and navy of lawyers on retainer in the event they're called to task.

how the hell else have they gotten around all the FFP stuff and been subject to repeated calls to task only for the CAB (or whatever they're called) in Switzerland to give them the all clear, after BILD outing them and them being found guilty only to get a suspended sentence and then nothing happen the 2nd time around ? and a fine they can pay with cash found down the back of the sofa.
