Nobby

Post by Up the Junction »

He's been one of the most vital components at WHUFC since being signed by Big Sam over a decade ago.

He's lifted a cup at Wembley, housed/mentored Andy Carroll (no mean feat in itself), became the first midfielder to score double figures in a season since Frank Lampard, captained the club with distinction, celebrated like a chicken and been a huge part of David Moyes' backroom team.

So happy birthday Kevin 'Nobby' Nolan, 40 today. 🎂

Love the bloke and glad he returned to the club as a coach after his pretty subdued departure.

Deep down I think he’s become a bit of a fan of the club too.

For me, one of our most important ever signings. Getting him from Newcastle to lead us back to the Prem was so vital.

Love the guy. He is everything a top footballer should be.

I hope he has a successful managerial career.

I was delighted when we signed Nobby. He helped to put a backbone in the jellyfish that was West Ham. I was equally pleased when he joined the coaching team and I am sure he makes an immense contribution. All the best Sir Nobby! :scarfer:

I'm another one who's never heard of him referred to as Nobby before !

However, Happy 40th Kevin Nolan. Grudging thanks ( ) to the Fat Man for persuading him to come and put some spine & goals into the team. The Man Utd goal was not offside either...

I liked him even when he was at Notlob and regularly bullied whatever pair of spineless centre-backs we had at the time. He was also a far better player than he was given credit for and probably wouldn't have done any worse in an England shirt than Scholes, Gerrard and Fat Frank. He was always on a bit of a hiding to nothing being perceived as BFS's boy wonder but, he was a good captain for us and, you can argue that he taught Noble the job quite well.

I was super pleased when the Moyesiah brought him back as he's just one of those blokes who gets us.
