James Rado RIP. No, I hadn't heard of him either

One of the writers of the famous musical 'Hair' has died aged 90. 'Age of Aquarius' and 'Let the Sunshine In' must be familiar to a lot of people over 60. Also, there seems to have been a lot of well-known 70's music stars who cut their teeth in this musical (Alex Harvey among them - Marc Bolan? Arthur Brown).

However, I'd noticed on a track-listing a song called 'Sodomy' - Only just listened to it and am cracking up at the situation and the lyrics, once you get past the horses... a snapshot of the 'sexual revolution' (complete with 'pederasty' oh dear) FAAAR OUT!

Good Lord.

On a slightly related note, didn't Aquarius used to be the theme tune to, or get played on ITV's kids' show Magpie? Or am I just remembering that wrong?

Think you is mistaken. Magpie had it's own Atomic Rooster-ish theme tune.

There was a Sunday night arts programme on LWT called Aquarius that used it as it’s title track. It was the South Bank Show of it’s time IIRC
