Re: 🚗 🚌 🚅 ✈ The Away Game Logistics Thread
Is anyone else booked to come back on the 16:47 on Sunday? With the (yet again) late change in kick off time to 14:15 it's going to be a struggle to make it.
Re: 🚗 🚌 🚅 ✈ The Away Game Logistics Thread
I think that's because Brighton's ground relies on train access, as there's limited parking, not many buses and it's too far to reasonably walk from the city centre.
I can't see them calling off other games across the country because of train strikes. They didn't earlier in the season.
Re: 🚗 🚌 🚅 ✈ The Away Game Logistics Thread
Train strikes expected to be announced next week for 1st and 5th October. Doesn’t directly affect any games but the 5th is the day before Anderlecht away and will probably have a knock-on effect to Thursday 6th.
Edit: Wolves home affected as Brownout mentions. Double whammy.

Re: 🚗 🚌 🚅 ✈ The Away Game Logistics Thread
From Brighton & Hove Albion Supporters Club:
- There is a little bit more to this that just the train strike.
That weekend is freshers week at Brighton University and Sussex University. This is the one week in the year when the Universities don't allow the Albion to use their car parks.
So not only are there no trains, (they don't run replacement bus services during strikes) but there is no car parking either.
The Amex is heavily dependant on public transport. It has to be as part of the planning permission when the stadium was built 11 years ago. Something like 65% of people use the trains and buses, 20% use park and ride and 15% use the University car parking.
It was indeed awful when Sky TV moved the Brentford game to 8pm Boxing Day when there were no trains, but Brentford bussed all their fans (amazing) and The Albion created new park and rides from (closed) supermarket car parks elsewhere in the city at enormous cost.

Eurostar out early Thursday morning - could be a pain getting to St Pancras if trains are slow getting going due to the strike the day before.
Staying at a hotel near to Gare Midi. Eurostar back early Friday morning.
Looking forward to it - love Brussels.

Eurostar is a ridiculous price now
Gonna drive, ferry or tunnel
Yet to decide if to stay overnight or drive straight back.
Need some safe parking, I hear North Brussels is a bit dodgy

Eurostar for Anderlecht.
Used it today, currently in the common market, be warned , because of the attitude of the belligerent French passport staff, getting through in time for your train requires extra time.

Anyone still not sorted Anderlect travel
We’ve a coach going from Upminster Wed morning to Bruge, Hotel overnight then on to Brussels.
Return straight after the game ETA Upminster 2am Friday.
Cost around £300 at the mo but this would reduce if more book, re price is calculated by numbers going divided into Hotel/Coach cost

- Brussels is a sobering symbol of European failure. The station and its surrounds are apocalyptic and threatening-feeling, which is odd for an international hub in this most international of cities. The station itself is dungeon-like, with confusing signage in French and Flemish, all but indecipherable to non-locals, filthy platforms and, in the Eurostar terminal, coffee only available from a tiny, usually broken machine behind a till for duty-free bits and bobs.
If one is able to find one’s way out, one hardly feels that one is in the cradle of civilisation. The streets are rubbish-strewn and flyblown. Social services, including rubbish collection, are clearly ill-equipped to cope. The extended area around Gare du Midi/Bruxelles-Sud is a bit like how King’s Cross used to be, decades ago before it became the Eurostar hub and one of London’s most gleaming, commercially important quarters.
