A ridiculous assessment of a guy who is a top tier manager. He did a very good job at Palace, which is no doubt why they want him back.
Mediocre Dinasour of a manager. That good a job they got rid. That good he got destroyed in a World Cup group Stage followed by humiliation by Iceland two years later. You are on a constant wind up. Most boring poster here, happy to accept what you are given with a "please sir, give me some more" attitude.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: "He's an absolute legend. What he's done for football, for English football, what he transmits as a manager and what he has done at different clubs is remarkable.
"He has been doing it for so long with the way he is always conducting himself. It's a great example for me as a young coach. He is someone I admire."
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described Hodgson as "one of the very, very greats of our business", adding: "I knew about him long before I met him and he is a really nice guy. I couldn't have more respect for him and what he has done."
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti said: "Roy is a good friend. He has had a fantastic career. In Italy they have good memories of him.
"He has helped football to be better and he also taught a lot of managers how to behave on and off the pitch."

Pulling up quotes on the day of someone's supposed retirement hardly going to call him a boring has been are they?!
Their fans are certainly less than impressed. The question they are asking is what else can he bring to the clubs after he ran out of road in 2021? Perhaps it would be akin to us bringing back Sam after we let Bilic go in 2017, and the response would be the same. With no road to buy new players, Roy will have to make do with what Palace have and see what can be done over 10 games.
Its a gamble that could work. Roy is a very experienced manager.

Reckon his Doris has had enough of him annoying her while pottering around garden centres and looking at sunlife brochures
Bang on! He either doesn't like his wife very much or she has had enough of him being around the house.

Same problem the Warnocks are having, what with Colin begging to work for Huddersfield again after his 18th retirement from the game. These 74/75yo codgers still can't get enough of it.... :arry:
He's only in till the end of the season. Palace don't need to tear up any trees, just stay steady and not go into a tailspin. Woy knows the club, knows most of their key players. If they were in Southampton's position they might need a more radical appointment, but given where they are it's a good call. Anything that upsets the Holmesdale morons works for me

Interesting that Hodgson is past it because of Watford but you can't judge Bilic on his time at Watford because they're a mess.
Hodgson’s probably a nice bloke and he’s done a lot in the game. But come on, would you want him here?
His career highs were Liverpool and England and he was pretty dreadful in both posts.

Nagelsman is about to be axed by Bayern and replaced by Tuchel. Supposedly.
Baffling, I know they're 'only' second in the Bundesliga but a point off top and their next game is Dortmund who are ahead of them. Perfect record in the Champions League of played 8, won 8, only 2 conceded.
I assume there's something else going on there, as it's not an obvious change to make.

No, nor would I want Bilic.
I just found it strange that Hodgson is being judged on Watford and Bilic gets a free pass on Watford.
Agree wouldn’t want either here.
No manager should be judged on their time at Watford really but Bilic must of been pretty desperate to take that job. Hard to see a way back for him now.
Hodgson back at Palace is just foolish sentimentalism

I can see the logic with Palace if his contract in until the end of the season. I personally wouldn't have sacked Vieira as I don't think he'd have taken them down.
Outside of Watford, Hodgson has had a solid career and he knows the club. Stutter over the finish line then reboot with a more exciting manager.
Their issue was the same as ours, the likes of Carrick, Still, Postecoglou etc. Won't want to come here midseason, and the likes of Benitez and Bielsa want long term deals.
Not many about willing to take a 4 month deal, Hodgson obviously was.
