Ahhhh, opinions are just like ar?eholes.... everyone's got one. I look at some of the dinosaurs that manager in the FA. So negative. The absolute fear of making a mistake. To scared to have a go.
AP would find most of their tactics abhorrent. He'll be like a breath of fresh air. God knows the EPL need it.
I hope AP is a success, just not at West Ham's expense.
Oh, and I take the point that he has only won domestic competions in Scotland IB, but he has won an Asian Cup, won several domestic competions in Australia and Japan (which the snobs will poo poo). But still, he likes to win where most at present just don't want to lose.
Thing is for AP at Spurs is will he be given the time to build a team to compete? Potter was a 5 year project that lasted 6 months! There is zero patience in modern football amongst boards, media, fans etc. It is all the here and now.
If Spurs are below mid table come Christmas as he gets used to the PL/players the pressure to replace him from the media etc will be huge.
It has nothing to do with ability (which he clearly has) and everything to do with the expectation of immediate success with a team/squad that is borderline top 6 at best next season if they keep Kane. I doubt he has ever had a more pressured job.
Former England and Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has been named manager of Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.
The 43-year-old had said in June he had been invited over to the country to "look at a potential offer" but that he would not be taking it up.
"Without a doubt, Gerrard's presence will be an addition and a quantum leap to our league," said Khalid Al-Dabal, the club's chairman.
Gerrard has signed a two-year contract with the Saudi club.
Al-Ettifaq were seventh in the 16-team Saudi Pro League last season, finishing 35 points behind champions Al-Ittihad.
Gerrard has been out of work since being sacked as Aston Villa manager in October last year.
The former England midfielder's move to Saudi Arabia follows a summer of heavy investment by Pro League clubs as several top European players have joined Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East.

That's what you get eventually, when you tie yourself up with Jorge Mendes and his chums. Playing games via the media. Some at Wolves tried to liberate the club from Mendes' huge influence after the sacking of Bruno Lage last autumn, but after months lost their battle and with Lopetegui another Mendes chum came through the door, after some of the old guards at Wolves couldn't get the Michael Beale signing over the line. Some of the latest Mendes signings have failed, he has chosen to send his prime assets elsewhere. So with this in mind and the financial situation at Wolves looking difficult, they look like a club being in all sorts of trouble already.
And the guy walks two-and-a-half months after starting those PR-games via one of his chums. Typical move Jorge Mendes guys always do. Always about their own image, always pressure on the clubs, despite those clubs often behind used by Mendes himself.
